[It's probably a hallucination; that's the only explanation Zack can come up with as he looks around at his new surroundings. It's not the lab, or the transparent green of a mako pod, or even the forest outside of town. Instead he sees... space.]

...What the hell?

[Nice and coherent, there. But since when did this happen? He can sort of remember a dream, but dreams have never been reality. And what about-]

Cloud? Cloud, where are you? Cloud! [...Nothing.] Is this some kind of joke? Hey! This isn't funny...!

[Aaaand he's walking. Through space.

[blinks] Did you say you're looking for Cloud?

Astral Plane, huh... weird.

So- wait, you know Cloud?

Yeah! Well, I met him once, when he first got here. He didn't sound very keen on coming back, so he's probably not around...

I'm Oliver, by the way! [grins] Welcome to the Plane.

Not around? That's no good, I can't go back without-

[Rrm. Well, this guy's problems aren't supposed to be his, so.]

Ah, sorry. I'm Zack! It's nice to meet you.

Oh, you don't have to worry about that! If he went back, you'll find him there. Well. Assuming you're from the same place, anyway. If not, he'll still be there because he won't've come here. If...that makes sense.

Anyway, nice to meet you, Zack!

Why wouldn't we be from the same place?

Um...well... [scratches his head] Basically, people from all sorts of different universes can meet on the Astral Plane, including--at least as well as I understand it--people from lots of different versions of the same universe. You know, alternate realities, like in sci-fi shows. So the Cloud I met here might be the same Cloud you know, or he might be a Cloud from some other reality. Something like that, anyway. I don't really know how this place works.

[....Are you trying to blow his mind ;_; What is this.]

That... sounds kind of complicated. W-wait, are there other versions of me!?

Not that I've seen, no. But like...there are lots and lots of possible universes, so different ones of those have different versions of the same people. I think.

...This is all kind of going over my head here.

Uh...okay, let's try this. Where do you live? Is it where you grew up?

Uh... well usually I live in Midgar... but I grew up in another town. [Not getting the connection, but he can wait it out.]

Okay! So, in your universe, you moved to Midgar. In some other universe, you never moved. Both you and that other you could come to the Plane, but your lives would've been different because you lived in different places.

See?

....Are you kidding?

Uh...no. But it doesn't happen with most people! Actually, I think the Doctor's the only person I've met more than once... Oh, and Rose!

But a lot of people come from different universes, so you'd have to ask Cloud to find out if his is yours.
