[Dino appears on the Astral Plane, rubbing his head and looking very surprised.] Okay, this is new. I'm used to seeing stars when I bump my head, but never this many at once! [Suddenly gets a serious look on his face] Seriously, where am I here? This doesn't seem like an illusion... [Tries to pull out his whip and take a step forward at the same time..which isn't a good idea for him. He manages to trip over his own weapon and falls flat on his face]

[Faintly] Ow...

[laughs, offering a hand] Well, realizing you're basically standing in outer space tends to make your feet do odd things.

[Takes the offered hand, smiling a little as he gets to his feet] That part was a surprise. Last place I remember being was home.

[nods] That's usually the last thing remembered. Oh! Right, sorry. I'm the Doctor. And you are?

Dino Cavallone, nice to meet you. [Is so used to Mafia nicknames that he does not find the Doctor's name at all strange] So, where exactly are we?

Nice to meet you, Dino! [looks around] Oh, this place is a bit of a mystery. My personal theory is that it's some sort of temporal rift or a dimensional nexus. Most of the people here are from different times or worlds, you see.

Different...worlds? Is that even possible?

Oh, course it is. Just not usually like this. This sort of situation normally is dangerous but apparently everything's fine this time. Lucky us.

Yeah, lucky us. [Is still slightly confused but he's not about to let you know that] So, I guess there's a bunch of people around here?

Hm, a few, yeah. People pop in and sometimes they don't for a while. It's hard to tell. But I think there's enough people to chat with.

Well that's good at least. Having people around always makes things more interesting.

Oh definitely. It'd be terribly boring otherwise.

Boring is good once in a while though.

I don't really drink tea. But I do like breaks every now and then.

[Mafia life is always hectic] Very hectic life. And I have a bunch of people visiting me right now so things are even crazier than usual.

Family or clients or something like that? Or just mooching friends.

Friends I invited over. I wanted to give my cute adoptive little brother a taste of Italy.

I thought you might be Italian. Going to give him a big meal and everything?

Italian born and breed with a long list of ancestors here...as my Grandfather liked to remind me.

[Laughs]Of course I'm giving him a big meal, only fair after all the food I ate when I was visiting him.

[laughs] Italy was always big on family. I love Italy, though. Don't get to go there enough. Are you still living there?

Family has always been very important to me. [They're thinking about totally different types of family but hey, it works]

I live in Rome, I love it here.

[the Doctor is amused distantly because, hee, Italian stereotypes, 'Family', but like the cute guy here is in the mafia] Rome? Oh Rome is very nice. Modern age? 2000's?

[Dino knows he doesn't look like he belongs in the Mafia. He rather likes it that way] 2008.

Ah! Good year. I usually like to visit those years, actually.
