in the midst of a crowd going and coming
[Kyouya is trying to work, sitting on a couch near the ballroom.]
[Status report:
-Headphones: around the neck, chiming out performances by Martha Argerich, Idil Biret, and Arthur Rubinstein.
-Notebook: in hand, being written in.
-Pile of broken pens: rather large and to the left.
-Pen in hand: just now snapping under the pressure of his thumb.]
[Kyouya sighs and puts the broken pen in the pile.] Meritless. [It is a word that means the same to him as violent curses mean to others.]
[Blindly, he reaches out to the right for a new pen. He grabs nothing.]
[His eyes narrow on the empty space where new pens should be. From the look on his face, it would not be ridiculous to infer that every pen manufacturer in Japan will be exiled from the country if a new pen does not miraculously appear in his hands within the next minute.]

Do you think it's a bad idea for us to have the Tanabata Festival here?

We can just have the festival without hosting. That might be for the best.

[a beat]
What people?

[Tamaki for his part whines Kyouya's name in that way only Tamaki can]
Kyoooouya.

[Now he's having fun.]

[what a jerk! Tamaki is on the verge of going into flail mode.]

[That was indeed sing-song. He is having quite a lot of fun.]

Kyouya!

[Tamaki buries his head further in his knees, with Antoinette coming over and fretting over him]

Who are some people?

[his sulking is cut short however, as Antoinette knocks him over, forcing Tamaki to release Kyouya's panda, who makes its escape. Antoinette tackles Tamaki, attacking him the only way Antoinette knows how to attack: with puppy affection.]
Antoinette! Halt! Antoinette! [he flails a bit under her, and then somehow makes his escape, much like Kyouya's panda. Antoinette follows close behind, but doesn't pounce again. He takes a seat on the sofa next to Kyouya, Tamaki's panda still listening to Kyouya's headphones and sitting in between the two. Tamaki picks up one of Kyouya's broken pens and plays with it] I guess you're right. If you say it doesn't matter, then it doesn't matter. [he looks up at Kyouya] But if it did matter, you would tell me, right?
