[Oliver is sitting in the middle of the Plane's theatre, his feet propped up on the seat in front of him, munching popcorn and clearly enjoying himself immensely. he's laughing, he's cheering, and at this particular moment he's just gasped at the turning point of the film]

What? No way! This is sci-fi. Anything's possible! You have to...hah! Now you've got it! Yeah, give that a go!

[puts a handful of popcorn in his mouth, then makes some sort of angry noise around the food. swallows and draws back a hand, clearly planning to chuck some popcorn at the screen]

Not you again! You'd think after all these years they would've learned to make the villains more-

[and then, for no clear reason, he stops. for anyone watching, it appears that for a moment he is frozen mid-motion. someone with a discerning eye would notice his expression slackening. finally, very slowly and calmly, he lowers his hand, dropping the popcorn back in the bucket. and he stares at the screen before him--a screen currently rocked by an explosion--with an utterly blank expression. when he speaks next, there is no hint of emotion in his voice--no concern, worry, or shock. he's just making an observation]

...the colour's gone.

[ooc: Oliver is now experiencing his second experiment. Everything has gone black and white--his sight, his thought processes, and even his emotions.]

[Isn't it fabulous? She can come up with completely loaded statements, and they fly right over his head.]

Oh, I don't know. I could never manage being a regular bloke.

[the really fabulous part will be when he comes out of this and remembers what she said]

That's why you're more interesting. I'm not even good at being regular anymore.

[Chances are good they'll both have a lot of fabulous about what both of them said.]

[he'd be terribly upset if he knew what he's sharing right now]

I can't go home, and I don't fit in on Gondovan.

How did that come about? You never told me much about it.

[She'll be v. v. nice about it?]

[she'd better be because she just flicked another emotional switch. his expression completely crumbles] I don't tell anyone! I was possessed. I tried to kill Anna--and you!

[...Oh, Oliver. He gets an immediate Doctor hug because she really really hadn't meant for that to happen.]

It's all right. Clearly you didn't succeed, and possessions are... tricky. It's over, at any rate.

[hugs her back before adding darkly, his emotions clearly still running wild] It might not be. Something could still be there--in my head.

[...Well. That's one fear that could possibly be put to rest.]

Have you... has anyone looked for traces of it?

[his lack of normal emotional inhibitions could have a benefit?]

No. The Doctor--you said it was dead. But it fed on my darkness! It attacked because I wanted it. And if I wanted to hurt you inside--if it brought that to the surface--I could hurt anybody!

[...Oh, ow. Her voice is perhaps a little firmer than she'd intended it. She's suffering from a small amount of deja vu - it's not so very long ago that she's had a conversation that seems very similar to this one, now.]

No. That's not the way possession works.

[stares at her. he knows the Doctor wouldn't lie to him, but there must be a misunderstanding because he knows what happened. shakes his head]

It did! It went through my mind, and it took my darkness, and it made it so much stronger. It made me hurt so much I wanted to hurt other people! I remember it. I still see it! When I close my eyes, it's still there--all the things I could do...

That's not you, Oliver. Not really.

[She absently bites her lip for a moment, while she considers phrasing.] Anyone could be terrible, if you took all their... impatience and frustration and things and blew them out of proportion. But that's not what makes you you. You are, and as long as you're in control, and not Something else, then there's nothing to worry about.

[just looks at her for a moment, confused, because his memories are telling him one thing and the Doctor is telling him another and both can't be right. sighs, frustrated, and closes his eyes against the emotions] It could've changed me. Forever.

A lot of things could change you forever.

But this one doesn't have to.

[his eyes are glistening with tears now and his voice is softer when he speaks next--not so frustrated, but instead loaded with sadness and pain] It already did. You left. I can never go home.

[Her next words are ones she doesn't throw about haphazardly, like certain future regenerations, but honest and helpless, the only thing she has to offer.] I'm sorry.

Me too. [and oh, his pride would be wounded, but he's starting to cry now] It was my fault! Even if there's still something wrong, something dark inside me...[chokes on a sob]...I never should've told you to go.

[He's getting more Doctor hugging, because he just is.] I shouldn't have left.

[hugs her back] No. I didn't want you to. It was just too soon! It took me too long to realise that, and...and you were already gone.

[softly--he's in no state to think out-of-the-box right now, and this is something he's long since resigned himself to] No. Not anymore.

[And now isn't very fair to either of them, because he can't manage emotional states right now. So maybe it's best if she employs a distraction tactic.]

[lets go of her, turning back to the screen and likely giving Three the opportunity to witness the emotions disappearing swiftly from his expression until it's flat again. he doesn't wipe away the tears on his face] It's called The Fires of Cyrtonia.

[it's a 27th-century sci-fi/fantasy flick with lots of magic and action and heroism and a happy ending. feel free to know it or not as you choose]
