[The Doctor looks a little lost in the woods, literally and figuratively. He's staring at his reflection in the stream, arms wrapped around his knees.

After a few long moments of brooding, he frowns, and starts pulling things out of his pockets. His sonic screwdriver, high-tech night vision binoculars, psychic paper, a banana --

he frowns at that one]

When did I put you in there? And what for? Who carries around a banana? Can't blame myself for liking them, they've got loads of potassium, but it's a bit random...why can't I remember?

[he slowly peels the banana and eats it, hoping it will spark something in his memories. Or lack thereof.]

[it's probably all for the best that those events are fuzzy; he wouldn't want to relive some of them any time soon. he got better, and he knew that.

but from the mental state of his former self, the confused emotions and the blocked-out chaos in his mind spoke volumes about how much further this self had to go.

worse yet, he still can't identify what's causing the problems, but there it is all the same. the only thing he can tell is that it's slowly, very slowly, breaking apart. at least he has something to tell him once he breaks contact]

[gently releases his hands] You know, you really ought to dust in there once in a while.

[Nine laughs -- it's a bit strangled, like he's dangerously close to tears, but he laughs.] Maybe that's what the Twins had in mind. A bit of spring cleaning.
