[If anyone happens to be passing by that theatre from the 1920's, they will hear a film being played. If they care to venture inside, they will see the Doctor sitting there with a bag of popcorn. He's not really watching the film, though it may seem that way -- he's waiting. And he's chosen this particular film for a very specific reason....bait.

Because really, how could the Master resist a classic like The Care Bears Movie?]

{Peej walks in, laughing after a moment. And seeing the one person in the theatre, she flies over}

Feeling nostalgic, or is this your idea of a Friday night?

[the Doctor smirks slightly] A bit of both. If my date stands me up, I'm going to be very cross.

You might scare them away with this kind of movie. Cheesy horror is the best kind of date movie. Sounds backwards, I know, but it totally works.

[wryly] I doubt it. 'Sides, he's a bit like a cheesy horror film himself, he doesn't need the encouragement.

Yeah, I get that, too. Who is it? I might have met him.

[flatly] The Master. Might've mentioned him at some point.

{Flatly} He tried to eat my cat.

[stares] You have got to be -- no, hang on. What did he look like?

Short, kind of scrawny, blond hair, smelled like a dump. Not exactly the most pleasant guy I've met, but he's up there.

Ah, thought so. He'd eat anything, I think -- something went a bit wrong somewhere, but I haven't gotten all the details. "Massive appetite" is putting it a bit lightly with that one...but he's not the one I'm waiting for. [not that he would mind if he showed up anyway, of course]

[The Master pops his head in] Not the cleverest bait you've ever thought of. He prefers gummy bears to Care Bears right now.

[Yes, he's sure that this is for his self.]

[The Doctor pretty much looks like a cat who just caught a mouse. Because he has.] Who says it's for him?

[NOT NOTICING THIS] Care Bears, Doctor? It doesn't go with your jacket.

Thought it was appropriate, considering. Popcorn? [he offers the bag to him]

That's good. I was about to question your tastes in healthy relationships.

[for some reason, he finds this terribly hilarious. after he stops laughing;] I'm still waiting for the Master, just a different one. He's got less of an appetite and a better sense of fashion, but don't tell him I mentioned that bit.

I still don't get all of that...multiple people nonsense. Weird crap goes down where I come from, but multiples and different timelines is a completely different headache.

[chuckles] The way it normally works is that we regenerate into a new self when we die. We don't meet our selves though often though, 'cause it can cause a paradox. So it's not usually this complicated.

...You would fit in great where I come from.

[amused] You're not wrong, from what you've told me so far.

Well, if you come to visit, don't bring the Master with you, okay? We have enough problems to deal with already, so we don't need psychopathic Matter-Eater Lads. Or...otherwise, since you say he's different.

[looks between the Doctor and the film for a moment before he bursts out laughing. makes his way over to him, taking a seat and reaching for the popcorn] Your taste in films has sure changed!

Trust me, I wouldn't dream of it. He's still a psychopath.

[darkly] He killed a friend of mine.

{Seriously--she's all business now}

...Really. Who?

[The Doctor chuckles, handing the popcorn over] I thought it was appropriate. And it's not for me.
