[today, Plane-goers, is a special day! for you see, today we have sighted the elusive 'Guv' in his natural habitat: the pub. or as natural as a pub comes on the Plane, meaning he's at the Astral Bar. because really, when isn't he. but today is different, because the Guv isn't drinking, though he sourly wishes he were. no, today, this terrifying animal has in front of him actual, honest-to-god paperwork

you see, Plane-goers, on occasion, the Guv will stop being boorish and actually look at casework. the reasons behind this unusual behaviour differ, but for today, that reason is nightmares, and what better way to soothe a distraught mind than with pointless, nancy paperwork?

yeah, that's what the Guv thinks, too]

Boy always did seem a few pints short of a good night out.

If I weren't lookin' out for him, he'd probably have gotten himself shot by now.

[Ray grins while he says it, but he's pretty sure it's the truth. If he weren't keeping an eye on the div, he'd probably be dead in the middle of some road from doing something completely stupid.]

Probably be doing us all a favour if he did.

[which is his way of saying that Ray, you're doing a good job]

[Ray laughs a bit.]

Dunno, guv. Means I'd hafta train a new DC.

Don't think DnC'd look highly on us, letting one of our own get offed, either.

Speakin' of... if you don't want Chris doin' that, I'll do it for you, guv. No fan of it meself, but it's just weird seein' you do it.

[Ray gives a shrug. The idea of his guv doing paperwork is still odd and foreign.]

[Gene looks over the paperwork, having not really bothered to earlier, then shakes his head, tucking it all away]

Don't worry about it, Carling.

[Ray nods and says no more about it.]

Alright.

[A pause as Ray purposefully ADDs.]

One of the DCs, Tompson, were talkin' 'bout your missus again. Gave him a 'reprimand', but I figure you might wanna give him a talk yourself.

[narrows his eyes] This is the third time, the ruddy bastard.

[Ray grins smugly. You know how he is, he manages to get all the various gossip.]

Think he has a thing for her. And when it ain't him, it's DI Robinson.

[Ray chuckles a bit.]

Figure half of CID's gotta be jealous, guv.

Half of CID is going to be out of work if they keep it up.

[Ray has to keep himself from laughing. You can tell he wants to though, Gene. Ray always seems to get some sort of amusement out of ratting the other detectives out when it comes to matters of the missus.]

I've tried to tell 'em to shut it...

It's obvious they need it sewn shut, then.

If you want a hand, guv, just say so.

[Ray grins and holds his pint up in Gene's general direction.]
