[Damon appears on the Plane with a frown, simply taking everything in for a moment.] This place is unlike any “machine” I’ve ever seen. Clearly it isn’t Time Lord technology. [he glances at the stars] Especially because they seem to have forgotten the correct placement for a several of these constellations. I wonder how it works?

[and he wanders, exploring his surroundings, before discovering a certain black hole that isn’t a black hole] Now that’s odd. What’s a black hole doing in the middle of a machine like this? Some sort of energy source, perhaps? But it isn’t even functioning properly...

I suppose this is what I get for wanting to see the universe. [and then, he pales a bit] I do hope there’s a way back. I’m not quite ready to prove Commander Maxil right just yet.

[oh Damon, have a Straxus in the lower layers of his ceremonial robes. he's waiting for the top layer to finish drying back in the TARDIS laundry room :| damn appliqués and fancy detail work that'll come off in a dryer.]

[in an amused, yet slightly smug voice:] Lucky for you, Commander Maxil won't be able to discover your absence. He's back on Gallifrey, skulking away.

[stares -- he is still linefacing, but clearly surprised] Straxus? How did you get here? And what do you mean, he won't be able to discover it?

[he's still very much amused] The same way you did, Damon, only several months ago. And I mean precisely what I say. Time freezes in place while we are here.

[stop that D:] But how does it work? That ought to be impossible.

[sucks in a breath] Well... It just does. And nothing has happened to the universe yet.

Speaking of time, though, when are you in your time line?

[carefully] I'm not certain how much I should tell you -- I'm not certain if you're from a previous point yourself.

You may tell me anything, Damon. The you I know looks a bit older. A few grey hairs starting to show around the temples, that sort of thing.

[well that's startling] I suppose it's good to know I don't regenerate as often as the Doctor, at least. But I won't ask you how much further ahead you are, just to be safe. [pauses] Omega was just destroyed in my timeline, if that helps.

[he sighs] Nobody goes through regenerative cycles quite like the Doctor... [with the exception of the Master, of course]

But was he indeed? That does go back a way.

[Damon looks faintly amused at that, and nods] I've been...avoiding the Chancellery Guard, mostly. Keeping myself busy at work. I've officially replaced Talor. [and the amusement is gone :/]

[he nods]

I think you'll find that the Astral Plane is the ideal place to...avoid the Chancellery Guard and a certain commander. And you won't have to account for your whereabouts or for how long you're here.

Though I should warn you. None of this comes without a price.

[sighs, a bit of weariness showing] Of course it doesn't. What sort of price?

That's the thing... We don't know. At times, we're subjected to experiments, some as simple as being trapped in one building with everyone who can come here--and others that can change the way you think about things. Make you want to betray those you know and care for.

Or worse, so I've heard.

[he frowns, concerned] And you've been here for months? That's difficult to imagine. Are you alright?

Of course I'm all right. I'm still in one piece. I haven't regenerated. I'm...just fine, actually. [such a lie. he's nervous about the trial, but knows he can't put it off any longer]

I might not know you as long as I have in your timeline, but I know you well enough. [translation: you're a big fat fibber. 'fess up, mister :|]

[he shrugs nonchalantly] Your point?

I don't think you're quite as well as you'd like me to believe.

[his shoulders slump just a bit.] Even if I'm not, you know I can only tell you so much.

[Oh, Omega remembers you, Damon. He watches you carefully, hands clasped behind his back and his face expressionless.]

[reaches out to squeeze Straxus' arm briefly in support] I know, but I'd still like to help, if I can. Is there anything I can do?

[brb staring again] Doctor? You're here as well? Not that I'm surprised, given the nature of this place...but it's good to see you again. [then he frowns] Where is Nyssa?

No. [but he begins to smile] Just you being here is enough. It's a welcome surprise.

I am not the Doctor.

[he ducks his head, embarrassed] It's rather a nice surprise to find myself here, experiments aside. I needed to relax a bit, I think.
