[Today Merlin is hard at work. This is, really, nothing new at all. In fact, he's always working. Do this, do that, go here, go there--

He's not bitter. Really. ...Sigh.

Anyway, he's sitting on the ground with a few pairs of boots around him. A wooden basin of murky, sudsy water is next to him and a glass jar of some sort of wax substance in front of him. He is tending to the boots with care and making sure they are good and clean. He seems very involved with his work and despite being tired of chores, he's humming.

A few of the boots have holes and tears but he has a patch kit nearby, too. Merlin has it all covered. He's a good servant, after all.]

[She laughs a little and takes his hand, smiling. She wouldn't have minded all that much if it were still dirty, either, but watching him brush it off was kind of cute.

When she hears his name, though, she has to stop and think for a minute. Didn't the boys mention a Merlin once? Maybe it's the same person.]

It's nice to meet you, Merlin. You, um... don't happen to know Axel and Roxas, do you?

[He laughs a little and rubs the back of his neck.]

I don't think so. I mean, I might! I've got this...destiny...thing and I guess people know about me and Arthur but it's pretty much like with the dragon, just about me and him ruling Camelot or something. [He pauses in his little ramble.] So just, I might someday?

((ooc: feel free to ignore this! I was going through my inbox and saw it and went, "aww Namine" and thought I would tag back ♥))

Destiny? You mean, you know your future already?

((OoC: Ignoring it would be so sad! ♥))

Sorta. There's this...all right, it sounds crazy but there's this dragon and he told me it's foretold that I will help Arthur become king and rule the land of Albion. And people around here say that's basically what they heard, too.

[She giggles a bit.] Well, if the dragon says it, and other people from other worlds say it, then it must be true. At least, in some way. Right? At the very least, my friends Axel and Roxas say they've met you. You helped them learn to use magic.

[He smiles.] Yeah? Maybe someday I will. That sounds sort of nice, teaching magic. I mean, I'm just learning myself from books and all but I must get better at it. And maybe people would be allowed to learn.

Allowed to learn? [She frowns.] Why aren't they?

It's against the law to practice magic in Camelot. Even here, outside of Uther's realm, I get nervous about people going on about my magic. Arthur's here and if he heard...

If he heard... you would be in trouble, wouldn't you? I'm sorry...

[But, she holds a finger up to her lips, and smiles a bit.] Don't worry. I'll keep it a secret.

[He smiles at her.] Really? Thanks. Sorry, I know it's not really nice to hide things.

Of course! Sometimes, secrets are necessary. [She'd know, having lived with a heck of one her whole life.]

Yeah, I suppose. Just gets old sometimes. [Sad Merlin is sad.]

Mm. I know what you mean.

[That came out before she could stop herself, and she looks startled for about half a second before she shakes the worry away.]

But, it will get better someday. And not just because everyone says it will.

[Merlin can't help being worried then and frowns a little.] Are you all right? You don't have to tell me! Just, you know...if you know what it's like, I won't think badly of you.

[She considers, frowning thoughtfully... then, makes up her mind and nods firmly.]

I'm... a princess. One of seven princesses of heart. When I was little, they attacked my kingdom looking for me. So, they took me to another world to keep me safe. Like you with your magic, I... I have to keep it a secret.

[He frowns. A princess! Damn, he hopes he's been respectful enough.] I'm sorry. That must be awful. You can't even go back home. But you've got friends, right? Someone with you?

[Meanwhile, she's hoping he won't change how he treats her after hearing her confession.]

I do! Well, I did. And I will. Axel and Roxas, my two best friends. They can't be with me right now, they have to save other worlds from the darkness. But, they'll come home. They promised, after all.

What about you, Merlin? Does anyone know about you?

[He smiles.] They sound like good friends. If they're fighting like that, they'll definitely keep their promise.

[Then he shifts a bit.] I've got Gaius. He knows, but...he can't understand what it's like. [A beat.] Lancelot sort of found out but I don't know where he is now.
