[There's good news for Alex today, imaginary constructs! You see, she's finally been fully discharged from hospital!
And, to boot, her hair is growing back rather nicely.
Unfortunately, she's a bit distracted right now, namely by the mobile phone she has clutched in her hand.]
No, no, I can't go back, can't you understand that...?
[She stops talking as soon as she realizes she's not where she was a moment before, and slams the mobile shut with a curse.]
At least I used to get a bit of warning before randomly switching locations in the bloody universe.
[Feel free to distract Alex from her continually facepalming into her dead mobile phone, please.]

[You see, Alex? Chris is being considerate enough of your frustration he's even refraining from giving the mobile phone curious looks. Mostly, anyway.]
no subject
[She huffs a sigh, having already forgotten she's still holding the mobile.] No matter how hard I try, Chris, nothing seems to work out the way it's supposed to.
no subject
...Why? What's happening now?
no subject
[She's choking up now and she holds out the mobile towards Chris.]
It was Shaz on the other end, but she couldn't hear me, Chris. I kept talking and she couldn't hear me. It wasn't supposed to be real, not any of it. I can't get away from any of you.
no subject
...Shazzer?
[He gets no answer, of course, having not unflipped it and Shaz's call already being over. He's not quite sure what to do about Alex, so he just looks at her uncomfortably.]
I'd offer to give her a message, but... [He tries for a weak grin, heart obviously not in it.]
I don't get it, Ma'am. How can Shaz have been speaking to you? You said you was in the future and that's how it was s'posed to be.
no subject
I'm sorry, I don't mean to shout at you. I am in the future but I keep hearing you all. It always comes at the strangest times, after I think it's all over. I guess it's not over, this place should be proof enough, shouldn't it?
no subject
S'all right. Must be a bit odd, hearing things all the while.
...D'you think this means you might have to come back? [He's trying not to sound hopeful, but he's failing a little bit.]

Oh, piss off.

Sorry, you don't expect me to be friendly after last time, do you?
no subject
What did we do last time? I can't remember. I hope nothing impolite?
no subject
If you honestly need a refresher, you pretended to be my dead colleague before going on to threaten me.

[She's really resisting the urge to just throw the mobile... Not necessarily at Diva.]
I wasn't thinking of here, precisely. I was just wishing for some place where I didn't have to bloody listen to that anymore.
no subject
Ne, that's one of those mobile phones, isn't it?
no subject
What?
[Then she looks down, as if suddenly remembering she's actually holding a mobile.] Oh, yes. [She holds it up.] Someone was calling me, but she couldn't hear me.

[She's sort of detached now, staring down at the phone like it's some weird foreign object.]
This was different. It was someone from 1982... They keep talking to me, you know. It's getting more frequent.

[She sticks the mobile in her pocket.] Chris is here. My Chris, from 1982. Maybe if you spoke to him then you'd finally believe me.
no subject
[snorts] Assuming we're talking about the same bloke, what makes you think some magical future version of him is going to be any bloody smarter than mine?
no subject
[she rolls her eyes at him.] I didn't say he was smarter, just that he's from my time line. His word should count for something.
