[arrives and falls over, spreading out her arms in a dramatic 'I give up' motion. after a moment she sits up and reaches into her pocket, opening an energy drink and downing it]

Maa, why is school giving such a heavy workload? We don't have time for cases anymore. I haven't had free time in forever. Middle school exams are coming up, too. I'm doomed.

You sound very much like the Doctor did during his school exams. Might I ask what you're studying?

Ah, really? He hated school work? Mmm, right now it's math. I'm all right in math, though.

He did, indeed. He often spent days when he should have been in class, or studying, or even in exams, hiding away on the hillside, or sitting with me, dreaming about the stars. He was a genius, mind, and still is, but not one for school. I am not surprised you're proficient in math, however. One as interested in technology as yourself should be well-versed in mathematical concepts and procedures.

Ah, that sounds much nicer than actually doing schoolwork. But you can't pass school if you only daydream. And I like math! Usually I don't like doing reports, though.

He did. Barely. [thinks about this] The second time, at least. Is that what you're working on, now? A report?

[giggles] Ah, that would be really bad to fail. Annoying anyway. But mhm. It's independent research but we keep pushing it back because Yasako, Haraken and I are having trouble with it.

Well, it did lead to his current relationship with the Master. What is your research on, child? Perhaps I can help.

[blinks] The Master was involved in his school work? And it's...well, it's sort of an excuse, really. Haraken has been doing most of it because it's about his friend. She died when a car suddenly hit her. The company says the cybernavi in cars is programed to not hit people, so she must have jumped out in front of it. But Haraken knows she wouldn't do that. He wants to find out if there's flaws in the cyber technology we use. [taps her glasses] So we say we're studying them.

They were classmates. [is interested in this discussion] So fallacies in cybernetic intelligences? How very human, to make something capable of disobeying its logic circuits.

Oh! ...I didn't know that. They seem more like superheroes and supervillains. [but nods!] There's definitely errors. I really doubt it could be 100% error-proof. Kanna was quiet but she was depressed, so she wouldn't jump in front of a car. And she was careful, too.

Perhaps now, though I would not label the Master as anything remotely 'super.' And no, I don't suppose you humans could make anything completely fool-proof, but it's always distressing when technology causes the death of someone. Too many people use it in the wrong way.

You hate him, ne...? And right. Haraken wants to prove the company wrong, because Kanna's mother is really upset that they blame Kanna's death on that.

I loathe him with the entirety of my being, yes. It tends to be mutual between us, however. How are you going about testing your theories on flaws in the system?

Ah, that makes sense. [nods] And we haven't figured out a way yet. So far we're gathering evidence on other crashes and accidents to see if we can find a common flaw.

Very thorough, then. What have you found so far?

Well, I found some things on victims of a fainting incident that might be related to the glasses. They drew strange things when they woke up from their comas. I think it's related but I haven't been able to talk to Haraken about it yet.

Do you have a copy of what it is they draw? I may have some information in my databanks, or I could at least see if the Doctor does, as his TARDIS is more updated than I am.

Hmm... [pulls up a screen and shows it to her. on the screen is a crude child's drawing of people gathering around a keyhole shaped void] Things like this.

[studies the drawing, scanning it for any common symbology from cultures she has previous knowledge of, frowning when she can find none] Is this the only link? What do you make of it so far?

[tilts her head] It looks like a hole in space. They're usually not shaped like that, though.

This virtual world of yours within these glasses...you said some humans can change their biology within them? Perhaps the virtual world can do the same and is manifesting in your own reality.

Maybe...there's rumours about Michiko-san, the goddess of the virtual world, who grants wishes to those who can find her.

A goddess? [shakes her head] Anything involving deities often leads to trouble.

Really? I want to find her and ask her for a wish.
