[and he looks around waiting for someone to emerge, although the setting finally does click and he sounds just slightly less self assured]

What type of place is this? It surely must be the product of sorcery and witchcraft. But what kind of sorcerer is capable of an illusion of this size. It is like nothing I have ever heard of or encountered. It's almost like another world entirely.

[with a small amount of surprise and wonder]I will admit that if your goal is to disorient it is a job well done.

[and back to authoritative prince mode] But now that you've brought me to this place, the only honourable thing to do is to make your presence known. Perhaps then we can settle this like men, instead of you hiding somewhere like a scared child.

Merlin, first of all, a place where time does not pass is impossible. Second, I always have to wait til ungodly hours for you to bring me my food. And finally third, you are completely unaware of how often I must resort to shining my own sword after you're finished with it because you're so incompetent. Yeah, well, I've got a list, too. First, time doesn't pass here so I guess it must be possible. Second, that's only when I'm busy mucking the stables or something else. Right. All right. Well...for starters, you can go home whenever you like. You just sort of...think and go there. You'll get it. It's not too hard. And this place, it's like this...this meeting ground. People from all over can get to it. I know it sounds mad but I really literally mean anywhere. Some of them have heard of Camelot, at least, so it can't be so far.

[takes a deep breath and then gives Merlin a look]

Yes well if you can manage it with your limited capacity for thought it shouldn't be too difficult for - [and he drops from the Plane in the middle of that sentence, reappearing a few seconds later, looking rather shaken] How did I - Things like this, that should be impossible.

It's not magic. I mean, it's probably not? Everyone says it's just really advanced science. So we're safe.

Really advanced science? Right. That's...right, it's really advanced science. But what kingdom could create something this advanced?

You said people come here from all over. Have any of them named their kingdom? We should discuss with the others what they know about this brand of science. The sooner we figure out what this might be the safer we are.

Have you discussed any of this yet with Gaius?

Uhm, right, about all that... I wanted to tell you about it. I really did. But you'd think I was under a spell or something. So I didn't tell Gaius, either. But most people don't really seem to even be from a kingdom. I'm sort of still getting that part.

[he pauses at that and then pushes the thought aside quickly] Nevermind. It's not worth discussion and is a rather moot point since he won't find out about this, will he Merlin?

[he looks confused at that last point]

How do you mean they're not from a kingdom? How can a person not be from a kingdom? Are they all Druids and nomads?

No, see, that's the weird bit. They aren't that either. I dunno how it works. I haven't really...asked but it sort of sounds stupid like, 'but everyone has a kingdom.' And then they look at you funny.

Don't concern yourself with how they look at you, Merlin. It's fairly obvious they're the stupid ones. Everyone does have a kingdom or they at least understand the basic concept of one. Only a complete idiot would think otherwise. Clearly we'll have to deal with the people of this place in an entirely different manner.
