(no subject)

[There is a spot on the edge of the forest, where a single Kadenwood tree shines silver and reflects the starlight that makes up the rest of the Plane. At this moment, it is also where Peylix happens to be standing, one hand pressed against the rough trunk of the tree, staring up through the branches. The peacefulness is a welcome change of pace, for once. Perhaps it will take his mind off the terrible headache he has.]

[It's been a long time since the Doctor has visited the Kadenwood tree on the Plane. But it seems like the best spot to brood about certain things that have been weighing on his mind...at least, until the Doctor spots Omega -- er, Peylix -- standing there. He hesitates for a moment, before walking up and interrupting the silence.] Peylix?

Hm? [he turns to face the Doctor, leaning a bit too heavily on the tree] Oh, hello, Doctor.

[gives Peylix a concerned look] You alright? You seem a bit...I dunno. Tired, maybe.

[he shakes his head, then winces] Just a headache. Nothing to be concerned about, really.

[frowns] If it's bothering you that much, I'm gonna be concerned about it. When did it start?

[a sigh, and Peylix uncounciously braces himself againt the tree a little further] Within the last day. It's only a headache, Doctor. It happens.

Considering you're under an experiment, and it's lasted a whole day, I've got the feeling it's not "only a headache." [crosses his arms] What happened yesterday? Anything odd?

[snapping, his voice sounding slightly... off. he's not sure why he feels so angry, but he's sure it's because of the Doctor.] I don't appreciate the interrogation. Nothing's happened.

What's got you so upset then? Sounds like something's gone a bit wrong to me.

[there is something wrong, but he's not sure what -- he can't think straight, doesn't know what's happening for sure. Peylix presses his hands to his eyes, trying to ignore the growing pain] Your incessant questions are what have me upset!

[crosses his arms] Right, so if I just hush up a bit, you'll be fine. [he leans against the tree silently, watching Peylix expectantly]

[gritting his teeth] Obviously it is not going to be any help now. [his voice, if Nine notices, wavers between the fifth Doctor's and Omega's]

[okay, that's worrying] ...Peylix, I just heard the Doctor in there. Something's wrong. [he steps closer] Let me have a look, yeah?

[there are three mind in his head now -- Peylix, Omega, and the Doctor -- and it's just getting more unstable, more chaotic. he shakes his head, snapping an angry reply] I-- I don't need you, Doctor.

[that hurts, but he takes another step forward, and brushes his fingers against Omega's temples] You've got me anyway. [then he initiates Contact, whether Peylix/Omega/Five likes it or not]

[that is possibly the worst thing Nine could have done, and suddenly Omega is trying to break away, to close off the Contact. But the muddled, suffocating mess of thoughts and memories and emotions makes it too hard to focus as they come raoring to the forefront, and Omega panics. It hurts; there's too many minds pressing in on him -- even a Time Lord body can't contain three competing minds, especially not with a fourth being added in, observing.]

[and that's all the Doctor can do -- observe. he tries to soothe, to mend, something, but it's all wildly out of his control, and he's lost in the madness. He can't even try to reason with his own mind...his Fifth's, that is, even though he's bleeding through.]

[One of the minds will break under the pressure soon, if his brain doesn't give out before that. Those cracked mental walls that divide the Doctor's mind from Omega are starting to crumble further -- he has to do something, anything to stop this. Omega doesn't realise it, but he's on his knees, struggling to find some way to end it, fumbling blindly.

...And then his hand finds the smooth grip of the staser.

He doesn't realise that he's even fired until Contact is abrubtly cut off, and Omega merely slumps down, gasping as some of the terrible pressure is lifted, his mind still an unstable mess of three different minds trying to reassert themselves.]

[Nine's eyes are wide with shock when the blast hits his chest, and he falls to the ground in pain. He knows he's dying, and the shock turns into pure panic -- he's trying to regenerate, trying to start the process, but he can't. So instead of dealing with this terrifying prospect, he weakly turns his head to his Founder.] Focus, Omega! Focus on something, anything! ...Focus on Rassilon if you've got to, damn it.

[Omega barely hears him -- he's far too busy wresting control of himself back, forcing the Doctor's mind back into unconciousness. A single Doctor could never hope to stand against his will, after all. And Peylix... Peylix is begining to fade, that ghost going back to where it belongs -- the distant past.

When he finally trusts himself to speak, Omega opens his eyes, his breathing still harsh with the lingering pain -- his will is just enough to keep him from passing out from the mental trauma. He'd dropped the staser on the ground, nearby, but makes no move to reach for it again -- he doesn't even seem to realise that it's there. Rather, he merely watches the Doctor, not quite comprehending what had just happened.]

You damn fool.

[he laughs -- it's faint, broken, and there's little humour in it, but he laughs, between gasps of pain as he clutches at his chest, struggling to stay alive] That's me, yep. Completely daft.

...you're not regenerating. [It's a simple statement of fact, and Omega's tone is devoid of emotion. He's just watching, now -- it's all he can do.]

Can't. Not working. [the pain, the confusion, the fear on his face is evident -- his expression more than makes up for Omega's lack of emotion. he only has enough energy for a few more words though, and they slip out in a whisper] Least you're alright... [and then he's gone, limp and lifeless on the starry floor of the Plane]

((OOC: Yup, Nine's gone and gotten himself killed. His body will stick around until people's backs are turned and no one's paying attention, and then it will mysteriously dissappear~. Feel free to have your character react appropriately, but if things start to look really bad for Omega (if he thinks he's about to be killed, basically), he's likely to drop off the Plane. He's a practical chap, after all.))

But you--[she stops, gulping, unable to say it because if she says it, it'll be real.] There had to be another way!

[she kneels down and tries checking for his heartsbeat just in case but that blast... but she doesn't feel anything]

[identity profile] forever-noble.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
But that's what he does. He pokes his nose where it doesn't belong, and you know why he would do that? [she stands too, glaring at Omega and points a finger at him] Because he was probably trying to help you!

[identity profile] forever-noble.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
[continues to glare at him] So your answer to someone helping you is to shoot them. Oh yes, that's very civil of you. Can't imagine what you'd do to someone who was actually trying to hurt you!

[identity profile] forever-noble.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
And what was that, huh? "Stay back or I'll shoot!"?

[identity profile] forever-noble.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
[she frowns, looking down at the Doctor, then back to Omega] Why would he be going inside your mind?

[identity profile] forever-noble.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, like you're so damned special.

[identity profile] forever-noble.livejournal.com 2010-02-16 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
[doesn't believe that for a moment] Oh yeah? And what do they call you on days when you're not killing your own kind?

[identity profile] forever-noble.livejournal.com 2010-02-16 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Omega? Sadly, never heard of you. [doesn't sound that sad] How do I know you're not just pulling my leg?

[props a hand on her hip] Well listen, Omega, or whoever you are, I'm not going to let you get away with what you've done to my friend. [because no matter what the Doctor looks like, she's decided that she'll still think of him as a friend]

Is that--[gives him a shove]--any of your concern?

[identity profile] forever-noble.livejournal.com 2010-02-16 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ohhhh, wrong words, Omega. to hide her hurt, she just gets angrier.]

[and slaps him]

[identity profile] forever-noble.livejournal.com 2010-02-16 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
[first time for everything, Omega!]

[admittedly that scares her, but she stands her ground] Yeah? With what? [gives that staser a good, hard kick, sending it sailing across the Plane]

[she matches that snort and raises him a bit of derisive laughter]

Oh no, I'm no fool. I know that if you try anything or do anything to me, my Doctor will come along and trust me, I've seen the sort of things he can do.

You don't frighten me.
