[Mu is hanging out near the theatre with a pile of, what is, presumably, a cloth. It's gold, but seems a bit...curlier than Aries. He's not repairing it, since he has none of the things he'd need for that, but nevertheless, there is a tiny hammer in one hand, which he's using to lightly tap out imperfections on the surface. He seems very lost in what he's doing, though occasionally, something in the task will give him a moment's pause, or, rarely, smile.


Clearly, the best thing to do here would be to bother him. ]

[Mu blinks as his working focus is interrupted. He seems almost bewildered for a moment, but then smiles]

It thanks you.

[oliverplus]

[blinks, confused by his words] It does? You mean...it's alive?

[lamb_of_gold]

Very much so, though it's mostly dormant here, without it's master.

[sits down next to him, looking at the cloth with interest] What do you mean? How does that work?

[lamb_of_gold]

[Mu puts down the plate he was working on, then taps the pile a few times. The gold metal shines and the pile assembles himself into what looks to be an ornate statue of a Lion]

The Cloths are sets of Holy Armour, blessed by the Goddess Athena. There are 88 Cloths in existance - one for every constellation in the sky. Of those, 48 are bronze cloths - the lowest rank, and, often, the weakest, 24 are silver cloths, and 12 are Gold. The remaining four cloths have been long since lost to time.

A cloth is brought to life through his master's will and Cosmo, sometimes acting or reacting without any apparent stimulus. However, beyond that, these cloths possess lives and wills of their own, though without a master, they often lie dormant.

I'm afraid I don't know the exact mechanics anymore. Nobody does. These cloths were forged in the age of myth - only the knowledge on how to heal them remains anymore.

So, are they meant to protect the Ea...uh...the planet? [blinks] Did you say Athena?

The Earth, and yes, I did say Athena.

Ahhh, yeah, the lion! That makes sense! [the armour was cool enough to begin with, but the former-Classical-history-major side of Oliver is loving this more and more by the minute]

When are you from...uh...you know, I didn't catch your name! Sorry. I'm Oliver, by the way. [gives him a friendly smile]

[Then he should never ever watch Mu's canon. It makes history weep.]

1988, now. Good to meet you. I am Mu.

Mu, huh? Nice to meet you!

1988, really? Wow. Must be...some other Earth. [he's still working on getting his head around that idea] There isn't a war, is there? [gestures at the armour]

There is, now.

[oliverplus]

[frowns] Sorry to hear that. Is it... [almost asks if it's going "well," but there really is nothing good about war] Is it going okay?

[lamb_of_gold]

Hard to say. Our resources are dwindling, while Hades...we don't know how well he's faring. There are many spectres of his that we have not seen yet.

[oliverplus]

[Hades--not a surprising name for an enemy, but not one he wanted to hear] What's he trying to do?

[lamb_of_gold]

Lead the souls of humanity to 'salvation,' and then assume control of Athena's dominion.

[oliverplus]

You mean...kill everybody?

[lamb_of_gold]

To put it bluntly.

[oliverplus]

But you've got Athena on your side, don't you? And this armour!

[lamb_of_gold]

And Hades has himself and One Hundred and Eight spectres who's Surplice's are comparable to these cloths.

[oliverplus]

[well, this has certainly turned depressing. still, there's an element missing in this story] What about the people? Aren't they helping you? I mean... [eyes his hair] Are you human?

[lamb_of_gold]

Excepting one small village nearby, most of the world is entirely unaware of what's happening.

[A small smile] Yes, I am.

[oliverplus]

[frowns--he knows how that goes. he remembers getting swept up in something so huge, but knowing that nobody around him even had the slightest idea. and only Anna has an idea of it now--aside from a few people on the Plane, of course. it still hurts to think about how his desire to help the universe ended up separating him from everything he loved]

It's like that, huh? That's...rough.
