[Kyouya appears with his laptop on the Plane, so he has good reason to be surprised when there is SNOW around him]

...what?

[Wrapping his laptop up in his blazer, he looks around. First instinct? Someone brought a snow machine. To the Plane at large, and so whoever may be responsible, even if it is Lapis and Lazuli]

I don't think that this is an advisable idea.

[A sigh. He pulls off his glasses to clear up the fog]

Uh...yeah, if you don't mind. I haven't quite got the hang of the going and coming back bit yet. [that and he doesn't own a coat. downside of living on a desert planet. still, it makes the snow here even more amazing!]

[Kyouya disappears, and when he reappears it is in his own (classy) winter coat, with another (equally classy!) coat for Oliver, which he offers to him]

I have gloves as well, if you feel you need them.

[sort of eyes that coat, like...I have never worn anything that fancy in my life] Cheers! [smiles since he should be grateful, after all, and takes the coat, pulling it on. he's not going to think about what he looks like in it] And I can manage without gloves. Guess I need to remember some winter gear next time I come 'round! [which means buying some. he'll have to work out a way to do that without Anna questioning him]

Have you seen it do anything like this here before?

[Kyouya's smile is so easy that it hardly seems he's registered Oliver's reaction and filed it away]

I haven't, but I haven't been here for very long. The temperature at the hot springs was the closest thing to a variation in temperature, and that was only from the steam.

Hot springs? This place's got one of those, too?

Oh, I'm Oliver, by the way! [holds out a (rather icy cold) hand]

Kyouya Ootori. [he shakes the hand, apparently not noticing the cold] My friends and I were trapped in the hotsprings when we initially arrived. The accommodations were surprisingly comfortable.

Ohhh, you're Kyouya! [although he thought Kaoru gave him a different last name--something using "sem." or was that one of those Japanese formality things? oh well.] So you're part of that...uh...Host Club, right? Like Kaoru?

[Kyouya agreeably welcoming smile slips easily into another type of smile. Now it is a smile of recognition in sharing a mutual friend] Ahh, you've met Kaoru? Yes, I'm the Vice President of the Ouran's Host Club. There are a few of us here.

Yeah, Kaoru helped me out when I first got here! And mentioned you probably know more about what's going on here. Vice President, huh? [he's still not sure what he thinks of this "Host Club" thing, but Kyouya definitely gives off a rather political air] Not to sound thick or anything, but do you get much snow in Tokyo? You don't seem very impressed.

It isn't particularly uncommon. [also, he can make it snow on command] I'm glad Kaoru was of assistance. He can at times be one of our more troublesome members.

Ah, well. It's still fun! [holds up a bare hand as if to catch the snow] Wish it'd stick, though. You can't make a snowball with this!

[but he's distracted from the snow by that comment. blinks at Kyouya's assessment of Kaoru] Troublesome? Really? Seemed more like he just knows how to have fun. [after all, how could someone who will explore the catacombs of a Coliseum with you be troublesome?]

[sounding nothing less than fond] You could call him and his brother the 'devils' of our group. [and yet mommy is the true demon...]

Devils? [grins, interested in this] So what do they get up to, then? Tricks?

On their more agreeable days. They specialize in causing trouble for the rest of us.

[somehow Kyouya does not look like someone who would tolerate much "trouble"] Well, he was all right to me!

So what were you working on? [gestures at the laptop]

The plans for our club's next event, actually. Has Kaoru told you much about what we do?

Uh...a bit. [and it sounded very posh and boring] You entertain guests? And have...uh...themes sometimes?

[Kyouya is distantly proud that Kaoru managed to phrase it so they didn't sound like prostitutes] That's more or less it. Ouran is home to many students who are being groomed to become leaders of significant Japanese institutions. It's important for us all to have an effective social and cultural education, but the Host Club aims to do this without sacrificing the happiness and carefree nature of youth.

Oh. [Kaoru did do a good job of that! and Kyouya just...made it sound even more weird and boring and posh. congrats. but Oliver will pretend to be interested anyway] So what are you planning?

The club's President has become interested in Indian traditions lately, so we're having a Diwali-themed event. We want to keep Honey-sempai's elephants at the school during the day, so I need to work out the logistics for their housing and feeding. But I'm sure you're not interested in boring details like that. Ahh, I always forget there are people from other worlds here. Are you familiar with the festival of Diwali?

[raises an eyebrow] Your friend...Honey...has elephants? [it's hard to tell whether he's more surprised by the name or the elephants]

I'm from Earth, if that's what you mean. [just ignore the clothing!] But I don't know that much about India, really.

Haninozuka Mitsukuni. 'Honey' is just his nickname. [smiling] Diwali is also known as the 'Festival of Lights.' You haven't met our President yet, but I'm sure that when you do, you'll see what attracted him to it.

Is he here, too? There're a lot of you here, aren't there?

Four of us, which is about half. I'm surprised at the luck of it myself.

Wow. Does that usually happen? [he can't really picture anybody he knows showing up here--well, besides the Doctor, anyway]
