[It seems as though the plane has a new visitor! Meet Gwen Cooper; dark hair, wide eyes, and why, yes, she is staring up at the strange hole in the sky with a look on her face somewhere between drooling amazement and abject horror.
She may also be muttering some near indistinguishable words to herself. After what she's looking at now, talking to oneself in public is certainly the least of her worries.]
Oh, this is brilliant, yeah? Leave it to my life, just tryin' to make sure no one gets maimed on a Saturday night, and I end up... here. Where ever here is, anyway.
[She takes a deep breath and examines her surroundings. She's probably taking this just a tad better than she would even have expected.]
I'm startin' to think we need a handbook. Don't press mysterious buttons, don't go down dark alleyways on your own, and don't go explorin' mysterious shops without backup.
This must be what's on the other side of the Rift. Only a matter of time, you end up on the wrong side of the very thing you've been fightin' for two years. Must have been what Mum meant when she said “Don't play with fire, Gwen, or you'll get burned.”
'Course, at the time she was referrin' to Rhys, but a lot has changed since then.
[She crosses her arms and taps her foot, finally taking her eyes off the sky to look around.]
So, anyone interested in tellin' me what's goin' on around here?

[she laughs, pushing her hair behind her ear]
Fell off a barrage balloon and into his arms. No lie!

[Gwen shakes her head affectionately.]
Leave it to Jack. Most fellas meet a girl at a bar. I'm sure catchin' girls when they fall off barrage balloons isn't helping tone down that hero complex of his.

He's here too you know. Jack, I mean. I never thought I'd see him again and there he was. He's probably your Jack too, I bet.

[She looks around, as if she's waiting for him to pop out somewhere. She's mildly disappointed when he doesn't.]
Well, it would have been nice for him to give me a bit of warnin'.

[a small smile that is almost as if she and Gwen are sharing a joke]
Bet it wouldn't be too much of a shock to have him lurking about somewhere.
[a little more seriously]
But...the way all this works, it might not even be the same Jack here. I know all the people I met here, they all got different timelines than I do. It's like parallel versions or something. Some people are from the same worlds, but some aren't, too.
no subject
Yeah, alternate realities and all. Well, I'll keep that in mind. Would be much more convenient if he's my Jack, that's for sure.
So, in your timeline or whatever, you still travelin' around with the Doctor?

[shakes her head]
No, not for a while now. Been like...god, I can't even remember how long, about four years now I think? Sounds all weird to think it's been that long.
Sorry, unexpected hiatus!
[She shrugs]
Of course, I wouldn't remember having worked with them, so I guess that makes a bit of a difference, doesn't it?
that's what they all say
[a soft smile, less out of humour and more out of understanding]
It's all a bit Men in Black, yeah? Sometimes I start to think it's all some weird dream and I just fell asleep in the employee's lounge back at Henrik's or something. It's completely mental.
Pfffft <3 <3
[she grins]
But it's loads of fun too, isn't it? Does Jack know you're workin' for Torchwood in your world? Bet he would love that!

Still, it's all sorta weird to think of Jack being the boss of anyone. Jack and authority were never things I'd thought I'd hear together in a million years.
