scattered before her are various bits and pieces of various things, including electronics and munitions; when she's finished retrieving what she needs, she pushes the pack aside and starts piecing them together

Is creating crude munitions a hobby of yours?

Not exactly. It's just the best way to get the job done sometimes. [she's slightly tense, ready to vanish with her materials if he tries to interfere]

Some would disagree.

Some have never seen a nest of Durslar Beasts. ...Make that most, actually.

I've not heard of them. What are they?

[slowly resumes her work while she speaks]

Type of demon - or Hostile Sub-Terrestrial, if you want the modern definition. Basically it means they're really old and really dangerous.

Less sentient than most of 'em, they just want to eat and breed. Unfortunately, both of those involve killing humans.

[have another Time Lord observing you, Kate!] Need an extra pair of hands? I've got a fair bit of experience with homemade explosives myself, y'know.

[looks up with a smile] Y'know, somehow I'm not surprised.

[he beams, crouching down next to her and digging his sonic screwdriver out of his pocket] The last bomb I made blew up a shop full of Autons. [he's piecing things together now too, and rather expertly at that] Who're these for?

[eyes the screwdriver warily for a moment, but then he starts using it, and she just shakes her head] Warehouse full of Durslar Beasts. Why'd the Autons need to be blown up?

Actually, it was the transmitter that needed blowing up. Autons are essentially just living plastic creatures controlled by the Nestene Consciousness, which was trying to destroy the human race. [curiously] What's a Durslar Beast?

Ah. [hey, it's no weirder than anything else] They're a less sentient kind of demon. More animals than anything. Problem is, they use humans for food and breeding.

[nods] I can see why that'd be a bit of a problem. How many d'you think there are?

[shakes her head] Not sure. I've seen about a dozen milling around, and a dozen more out on the streets, but I took out most of those. I'd like to get a look inside first, but I doubt that would end well.
