[See Doctor. See Doctor run. See Doctor run ~~half-naked~~ on the Plane. Actually he is sort of half-naked, considering his purple jumper is torn nearly to shreds, and his signature leather jacket is nowhere to be seen. Basically, he looks like he got clawed by a large, angry animal. Which he quite possibly has been, if the long, bloody scratch marks are any indication. He stops when he realises he managed to escape (for now), laughing to himself and shaking his head.] Now that's what I call convenient. I ought to try this more often.

Hmm.

[Once again she steps off the plane, and reappears with a mug of tea. The mug is bright red and says STRAWBERRY FIELDS, CENTRAL PARK on the side.]

Drink this, it'll make me feel better.

[chuckles a bit at her phrasing, but sips the tea, smiling] Strawberry fields forever, hm?

You've never been there? Oh, you oughta go. Everybody should see Central Park at least once.

[not that it's spectacular in and of itself, in Dorothy's opinion, but it's more the juxtaposition of this bit of beautiful green in a sea of concrete. Dorothy is naturally a fan.]

Nope, never been. I'll add it to the list, though.

So. Giant cat, huh? What's the story there? Mortimer get out and get you into trouble?

[laughs] Nah. Just sort of made the mistake of petting a giant kitten who's mum got a bit overprotective. [think Jackie in giant cat form]

[shaking her head] Boy, you and cats. Really, you oughta start hangin' around with dogs more, they're easier to deal with. Cats got their pride, y'know.

In both senses of the word, too. It's times like these when I remember why I can't stand domestics.

[she makes a "tsk tsk tsk" sound with her tongue] Ain't nothing wrong with domestics. It's just what makes people people, and I can't find fault with that. Where's your disagreement with 'em?

[he shrugs, raising his mug] Just not my cup of tea, so to speak.

Oh, now there's got to be a story behind that.

[she's not letting him off THAT easy, nooo sir]

[have a moment of uncomfortable silence, Dorothy] There's a reason I don't let families in my TARDIS.

[somewhat gently] Why not?

...Had one myself once, but they're all gone now. [wry smile] Well, sort of. Have you met Susan? She's my granddaughter.

Oh. I don't know if I've had the pleasure. [after a beat] I'm sorry. About your family.

[awkward shrug is awkward] It's been centuries, I'm alright.

Well.

[That is a Word Of Significance, right there. It means she doesn't really believe him, especially given how he "doesn't do domestics" and all, but she isn't about to say so. Still; she has her opinions.]

So, other people's families make you uncomfortable?

And there are practical reasons. Parents wouldn't let their kids rush off into anything dangerous if they had a say about it, and that's exactly what travelling with me is. Dangerous. [he is not even going to touch the subject of couples here]

Well, sure, but seems to me it's about more than just people traveling with you.

[rather stubbornly] It's not.

You sure about that? 'Cuz if big cats can inspire that reaction...

[frowns] I dunno what you mean.

[gently] I'm only sayin', Doctor. You shouldn't let things get to you like that. Life's too important for other people's families to make you miserable.

Oh there's a whole range of things I consider "domestics," families are only the tip of the iceberg. [pauses] Ended up clinging to one of those once, wasn't half cold.

Oh? Like what? Explain it to me, so I'll know what not to do.
