[A little bit after he talks to Mu and Shion on the Plane, Takeru comes back to the Plane, bringing with him some scenery - part of a dark beach. He walks along it, and stares into the water, before sitting down and looking at the sand. His mouth is moving, but there's no sound coming out.]

It's been a long time since I came to this place. Not... the Astral Plane, but this beach.

[He thinks about that for a moment. He slowly sinks to the sand next to Takeru] I'm sorry...that you had to lose someone I mean.

I've been angry... exhausted... but not upset. Not like this.

... I first came here after my friend and my brother were killed.

[He raises an eyebrow, but doesn't say anything about him sitting down.]

... It had always been dangerous. We'd always said that we might not come back.

We'd just... hoped that it wouldn't happen.

[He almost laughs at that.]

Being reminded of death... of people who go off to fight and don't come back. Losing someone close to you, and feeling like you can't do a thing about it but just fight and search for those responsible.

[Takeru looks out at the 'ocean' again and his expression turns blank.]

... It's hard. It's even harder when you lose the same people as someone else, but you seem to be worse off.

[He stares down at his blank crest tag, and scoffs.]

Hope... maybe once upon a time. Not anymore.
