[Axel appears on the Plane, and he's not alone! He's got a certain annoyed blonde captured in the crook of his elbow, as if dragging him away from a fight. In fact, they're both showered lightly in sticky rice and sporting a few scratches and bruises. Also some vaguely Chinese clothing.] Hey, chill out!

Chill out? He hit me first! He had it coming! [Said annoyed blonde attempts to wriggle out of the red-head's grasp.] C'mon, Axelll...!

[His grip is firm.] Do you want to get kicked out of the Imperial Forces before we can even join? We're doing it for the chi—er, Ping. Besides, if we're on our best behavior, we'll get to blow up some Heartless.

[Roxas takes a moment to digest all that, giving another squirm, if only for the heck of it.] That's... a good point. But then they'll think it's okay! The soldiers, I mean. ... to pick on us—or, worse, Ping!

[He's not letting go just yet.] Ping can handle himself. He's got that annoying lizard, remember? Besides, the captain will keep 'em in line.

Yeah, but... We still promised to help.

And we will, promise. That doesn't mean you have to get your arm broken for it.

... speaking of which? [He wriggles one more time, pointedly.]

[Axel sighs dramatically and lets go.]

[Martha hesitates just a bit before taking it from him, testing out the weight]

Special meaning it can shoot ice out from it?

[He watches, but doesn't call his weapon back just yet.] It's more of a conductor than anything, actually, and that's not all it does.

[Martha still feels somewhat uncomfortable with weapons, so she holds it out for him to take back]

What else does it do?

[He takes it, resting it over his shoulder and showing how he's pretty much completely opposite of not-quite-Doctor Jones.]

Well, for one, it can lock or unlock anything.

It doesn't look like it would fit most locks.

[Quiet, small laugh.] No, probably wouldn't. It's magic.

So your giant key-shaped short is also a magic pick lock. It must be a pretty incredible world that you come from.

It was really boring, actually.

How can a world with magic be boring?

Well, it wasn't on my world that I learned how to use magic. Nobody really uses it where I'm from.

Why not?

Well, it's not like anybody needs it there.

It sounds like magic would be pretty useful no matter where you are.

Useful, yeah, but we got along fine without it.

Did people there know it existed?

I... guess so. [It never really occurred to him to think that magic might... not exist somewhere.]

I can't imagine people back home not grabbing at magic if they had the chance. Anything that can be used will be. Except maybe common sense.

[Bit of a laugh.] Well, like I said, it's really boring where I'm from. The kind of stuff we do doesn't need magic.

So you're happy to get out of there? Are you going to go back?

Well... [He looks thoughtful for a minute, considering how to say it.] The circumstances that had me leave weren't exactly ideal... so I'm not sure. [Then, he nods.] Yeah. Hopefully soon. A friend of mine is still there.

[she smiles]

Why did you leave, then? These 'not ideal' circumstances.

Ah... yeah. That.

[Roxas pulls the Keyblade back out, looking at it for a moment before shrugging.] The Heartless came and swallowed our world. I got separated from my friends for a while... though we all met back up eventually.

And your world can come back after being eaten.

Kind of... Me and my friends had to work really hard to bring it back.

At least you could. At least none of it was lost forever. And you and your friends were strong enough to pull it off.
