and all at once I owned the Earth and sky

[Martha Jones appears on the Plane, wary of the invisible flooring but obviously in love with the scenery]

Okay… At least the ground is solid. Probably. Still a bit freaky, though maybe it isn't--is that a beach?

[with one last look at the ground, Martha makes her way to the beach. She seems happier on somewhat-more solid ground]

Much better. [Martha turns her head up to the sky] God, look at all the stars… [of course, the entire thing is just weird as far as physics are concerned. All the galaxies and nebulae are too near to each other and should probably be warping one another at these distances, but it all looks too perfect] Maybe it's a planetarium of some sort, 'cause it can't be an observatory…

[Martha could sit here and wait for someone to find her, or…]

Probably should stay where I am and wait. It would be very reckless and irresponsible to wander off, wouldn’t it? [a bit of a grin crosses her face] So I think I’ll go… this way.

[And Martha heads off in the direction of the Colosseum]

[a little startled, but she gives Martha a smile]

Oh, he'd do that thing he does, where he gets all flustered, but deep down you know he's loving it.

[pushes her hair back]

I work for this place called Torchwood. It's loads of paperwork and sometimes we get to save the world. More paperwork than you'd think, they never tell you that part.

It's not that much smaller. You can change everything with just one person being saved or not saved.

Yeah, well that's good, cause once you stop believing that it's like you're no better than all these aliens and monsters that we need defending against.

[identity profile] shewalks-away.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
A Macra, is that like an alien or something? How come you get the ones that are easy to say and I'm stuck with [braces herself for saying it, seeming to sound it out in her head for a moment] Raxacoricofallapatorians.

[beams for a moment, proud of herself for getting it in one try, and then tones it down, just a notch, because Martha the doctor in training would get it with no trouble the first tiime, but she's still grinning, and she'll let out a small sigh and chew on her lip for a moment]

So if that is an alien, what other sorts have you seen?

You still got Daleks? It's like they have nothing better to do but follow the Doctor around the universe. Everytime it's supposed to be the last one, then wait long enough, and there's more and more.

It's the truth, you'll see first hand probably.

So Macra, what are they like? Scary?

[identity profile] shewalks-away.livejournal.com 2009-05-15 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Four Daleks were enough to take out a whole army of Cybermen, three's just as scary.

Gotta be one big traffic jam, I bet, if giant crabs were living there.

All those people, trapped like that. They got out though, yeah? You and the Doctor, you helped them get back to that upper world and away from those Macra things?

That comes with the territory. Happened to me at least half a dozen times, I think. [and maybe that's not the most impressive thing to share, and she just sort of tries to shrug it off, wringing her hands a bit] Still, bet you anything you'll save him a dozen times for every half a dozen that he rescues you. Can't tell you how many times he was completely useless too if it wasn't for me. [grins a little at that, as if sharing a private joke between just her and Martha]

I guess he's not completely useless. He's got his moments. Has to have something going on upstairs, seeing his fantastic choices in traveling companions.
