If it were an illusion, I would have noticed it long ago, sir. I have no explanation for it's existence, save that it does and it seems to serve as a dimensional meeting point.

It is, however, completely possible to return home at will.

A dimensional meeting point? That much could be explained. Possibly an interdimensonal rift or ambivalent time-space continuum. I would need to research it more to extract the finer details of it's existance.
