[Arthur sits at his desk, hunched slightly forward, his head resting somewhat on his hand. He's got a history book opened up in front of him, several more stacked around him. Its opened to one of the chapters regarding World War II.

His expression is hinted with confusion, sadness, and anger. But mostly, he just looks very tired. In his left hand is the pocket watch, and h keeps flipping the face open and close, never really looking at it]

Quite a few times. The Americans did, but it was quite momentous for the world at large. For good reason, too.

[He's flipping through the book now, looking for that particular chapter]

Speaking of good things, how did your speech go?

[He pauses somewhere around the late fifties]

It went well, I think. Rather good, actually, considering the number of people that came up to me afterward.

I knew it would.

[looks at the book, upside down from his angle]

Oh, the fifties. That's a good era. Rock and roll, Cadillacs, polio vacine, the structure of the DNA strand is cracked. Coronations, greasers, beatniks, very exciting by all accounts.

Oh, and Sputnik makes it up before the end of the decade, too.

You should. There's a whole world of things to come to be hopeful about. Don't just dwell on the ugly parts. That sort of thing can drive a person mad.

Maybe, yeah.

[his tone is a bit distracted, waving off the first part]

You haven't seen that other Doctor around here in the past few days, have you?

I've only met him once, actually. Haven't seen him since then.

Probably for the best, make things a little easier. Two of them running around, bound to get confusing.

I thought he was the first Doctor I'd met, when I saw him. It was rather confusing.

I can see how that would happen. Once or twice I've nearly mistaken them.

I suppose so, yeah. I see the one without the Master more often, though.

[rubs the back of his neck, his tone thoughtful]

I've been spending some time sort of traveling with that one.

[quiet for a moment and then quickly shakes his head and a little more loudly]

[a bit embarrassed] It just sort of happens, I suppose.

He came to the speech, actually. Or rather listened to it. He also gave me a data pad.
