01. A door to something else

This shouldn't be happening. [Ace turns to see the door she just came through, only to find that it is gone.] Great. This is blood fantastic. All I wanted was a few minutes away from the pomp and circumstance and a bit of fresh air.

I didn't make that happen. [She speaks a little louder in case anyone is listening.] Couldn't of done it even if I wanted to. Not that I do, most of the time. Not even when you're all acting like dull prats with nothing to do but look at me like I'm an insect.

Is this a test? Would it have killed you to give me a head's up? Not even the Professor is this secretive.

Gordon Bennet.

Not quite a test, no. More like an experiment, really.

I'm guessing this is your first time on the Plane?

[identity profile] damnfinecoffee.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Slightly baffled pause.] ...the Matrix?

[identity profile] damnfinecoffee.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely a no, then. Considering the amount of Time Lord's around here, I think one of them would've realised if it was.

This would be the Astral Plane. It acts as a sort of nexus between realities. You should be able to go back to your own just by thinking about it, I'm sure you'll be pleased to know.

Aaaaand scene.

Good delivery. Though the material was a bit melodramatic. Who's the writer? Gordon Bennet? Never heard of him.

...Oh, so you're ALWAYS monologuing. Sorry. My mistake.

No, this isn't a test. I'm sorry.

It's called the Plane.

[identity profile] unearthlysusan.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
A pop quiz?

It's a nexus, of sorts. A meeting place between different universes and different points in time.

[identity profile] unearthlysusan.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see. [She can't remember Barbara or Ian doing that, although she'd always paid attention either way.]

That's what I thought, but things seem to be stable here. My grandfather isn't worried, so I'm sure it's fine.

[identity profile] brigadiertardis.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[she is really happy to see you!] So you have found your way here, as well, child.

[identity profile] brigadiertardis.livejournal.com 2009-03-06 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
It is called the Astral Plane. It appears to be a convening point of multiple universes. [tilts her head] The Citadel? I do not recall you spending any time on Gallifrey.

[identity profile] brigadiertardis.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Universes should not be able to meet. This is wholly illogical.

[frowns] How odd. You never attended Academy in my universe.

[identity profile] miseardae.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
[with the barest hint of amusement in his expression] Well, at least it's a distraction.

[identity profile] miseardae.livejournal.com 2009-03-08 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[an actual, approving smile] An intelligent sort, then. I can't say I'm fond of it either, but it's more pleasant than usual.

[identity profile] miseardae.livejournal.com 2009-03-09 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't blame you a bit, but there are degrees of unpleasantness. I imagine, for example, you'd rather it was your Professor doing it than...
