060: Mood to Burn Bridges

[Hei appears on the Plane sitting on a low wall surrounded in a blue glow. The glow cuts off almost instantly after he appears, and he promptly slumps forward on the wall, gripping the concrete edge to keep from falling off. He's pale and shaking a little, and black blood is flowing rather steadily from his nose. It's clear that he's exhausted, but he looks more surprised than anything.]

[He sits there panting and dripping blood onto the floor before he raises a hand to wipe it away.]

...That wasn't supposed to happen.

[He smiles a small bit, but it seems sad] I'm sorry I can't help you more.

[contract_star]

No, don't be. I'm fine now, see?

[lamb_of_gold]

...You sure?

[contract_star]

I'm sure. [He's not even lying, really, though he's just a touch faint from blood loss. Never mind that his ability probably burned out a few neurons.]

[lamb_of_gold]

You still look like you should lie down, though.

[contract_star]

[Hei pulls a spare napkin out of his pocket and starts trying to clean the blood off.] I'm alright. Just a little shaky.

[lamb_of_gold]

Please?

[contract_star]

[He stares at him a moment, then sighs.] Alright. I'll head to my hut--it isn't far.

[He gets slowly to his feet, bracing himself on the wall and swaying just a little.]

[lamb_of_gold]

[Immediately there, supporting Hei's other side with an arm around his waist]

[contract_star]

Oh...thanks. [He starts making his way toward the hut, leaning on Mu increasingly the further they go.]

[lamb_of_gold]

[Even at his young age, Mu supports the weight easily until they get to the hut.]

[contract_star]

[The stairs are going to be tricky. Hei stops at the bottom to catch his breath, staring at the staircase like it's a much bigger challenge than it is. Then he starts climbing, leaning on Mu and the banister. By the time he actually gets inside, he's exhausted.]

[Mu easialy drags him to the closest thing that looks like a bed and lays Hei down gently.]

[contract_star]

[Hei brought a bedroll here a little while ago, so that'll do. He lies down with an exasperated sigh.]

That was really stupid of me.

[lamb_of_gold]

[Mu goes about getting him settled, then vanishes and reappears with two cups of oolong tea. He hands one to Hei.] Want to talk about it?

[contract_star]

[Awww this brings back good memories. Hei hauls himself up to a sitting position and accepts the tea with a small smile.]

This ability...it's a bit like your Cosmo, I guess. But I have no control over it. Usually I can turn it on and off just fine, but...this was unexpected. I guess it was because I was concentrating.

[lamb_of_gold]

You need better mental discipline, then. You have to will it away with everything you can muster.

[contract_star]

[Smiles and sips his tea.] I suppose I do, huh?

[lamb_of_gold]

[Shrugs and nods] It's like when I heal - my instincts is to rip atoms apart, but I fight it to fuse them together.

[contract_star]

I...see. [He didn't know that before :O] How do you learn something like that? Going against the nature of it?

[lamb_of_gold]

Practice, mostly. I was told it was not an easy skill to learn.

[contract_star]

No, I imagine it wouldn't be.

[lamb_of_gold]

You'll have to practice, too. That's the only way to control something.

[contract_star]

I know.

[lamb_of_gold]
