[it's been some time since the TARDIS was last on the Plane, but here she is, with what looks like a segment from a very large wardrobe. not her own, of course, but some of Romana's old things from her room. there are several hat boxes and chests scattered around her and the TARDIS is currently standing in front of a full-length mirror, trying on a wide assortment of various hats. it's not like Romana needs them anymore, her being gone and all. you know.

besides, the TARDIS has been going through her rooms looking for things she might clear away or pack up in the attic. so whatever she doesn't like is being tossed in a pile to be sorted and filed. it isn't like the Doctor has bothered in some two hundred years to do so. there's also the added bonus of her attempting to appear 'nice' for him, and she knows he fancied Romana, soooo]

Diva pauses thoughtfully as she watches the TARDIS, biting her lip with a frown. Part of her doesn't want to apologize because ugh, it's the TARDIS. But she still comes closer slowly with her head lowered}

...I'm sorry.

[gives her a condescending look because c'mon, it's Diva] I do not want your apologies.

But I'm giving them to you.

{Pauses, swallowing her pride a little bit more} I'm sorry for hurting you. It was...stupid. I shouldn't have hurt you that way.

I do not care.

[sniffs, ignoring her a moment, then gives her a cold look] No, you should not have. It proves you cannot be more than you are, however.

{Her jaw sets, and her fists clench, but she still speaks calmly, lowering her head a bit more}

Then what can I do to prove that I'm sorry?

Nothing. Creatures like you cannot feel remorse. [looks away, idly fingering a hat] Were you told to do this?

{Crossly} Yes, but that's not true! I...did. Even for you, I did! Which was really odd, because I hate you, but...!

{She looks back down sourly, crossing her arms} Ne, it was...I remembered what humans had done to me, and...I felt bad for it.

So? What do you want? For me to forgive you? I do not forgive, vampire. I have killed for less than what you did to me. Why should I not bring you the same harm you brought me?

{A pause, then softly}

I suppose there's not a reason that you shouldn't.

Is that so? [darts out a hand, grabbing Diva around the neck -- tight enough to bruise, but not quite enough to cut off her air supply] It would suit you, you know. To be swallowed by the Eye of Harmony. To be trapped in oblivion with no escape.

{Instinctively, Diva reaches up to grab the TARDIS's hands, but she doesn't squeeze, just squirms a bit. And you know what? She even looks just a little bit scared. A little.}

...No escape? I...I wouldn't see him, though. I don't...I don't want that!

And I wanted what you did to me? I wanted you to touch me? I want this memory burned into my databanks with no respite? [shakes her] What does it matter what you want?

{Closes her eyes tightly}

I didn't take you away from them! Not the Doctors, not anyone!

No, but I cannot speak with them of it. I must lie and hide from them and cannot face them properly. I cannot be what I am meant to be to them. It is a far worse fate than being separated.

{Her toes curl and she speaks quietly}

Would...Would doing that, would it make you feel better?

[is actually sort of surprised by the offer and lets Diva go, considering her] It would not take it away. It would have still happened.

{She rubs her neck tenderly, coughing lightly}

But I should make you feel safe, right?

Why would you want to?

{Because Sam told me to}

Because...I know it hurts. That's why I'm sorry.

[Diva, grow some balls]

And should it happen again?

It won't.

[there is a long silence, then,]

If I can speak with them it would help. It will not take it away. It will not cause me to forgive you. You do not deserve that.

You should be able to now. Since Sam knows.

Sam Tyler? [this seems to upset her] And he forgave you?

{Her head drops a bit}

I don't know.
