[has taken off his coat and checks it over. looks rather disappointed to find a slash down the side]

My coat... [sighs] Most priests don't have swords, you know. Well, all right. Some priests do. Just it isn't exactly good for them to bang on about peace and then try to run me through.

[considers silently for a moment] Erm, Lucia, this isn't as bad as it sounds. You're not in trouble, really.

Ah, I prefer not to forget things. [smiles] Erm but point was, we can be in contact at all times.

[Grins] That's brilliant. --Mum might try to steal the phone, though. [Assuming they're still talking to each other over the phone from their separate realities] She's actually sorta...eying me right now.

[clears his throat] She's, er, not still mad at me, is she?

Dunno. Mum--yes, Mum, it's really--no, no, I'm not...he wants to--Mum.

...wanna talk to her?

Erm. ...You could tell her I said hi.

Right.

Mum, he says "hi." [The Doctor may be able to hear something like "bloody alien, won't even talk to me! After all we've been through, too! You're sure you're completely sane, Rose?"] ...er, yes, Mum, I'm fine.

....she really hasn't changed, y'know.

[laughs] I'd be worried if she had, honestly.

Would you, really?

--no, Mum, he said it's a good thing. You hear that? I think the baby's crying. ....no, I'm not just trying to get rid of you. Well, maybe I am.

The baby? How's he- erm she? ...How's the baby doing?

She. [Grins] Baby sister named Annie. And she's fine. Cries a lot, though.

[laughs] Sounds like a normal baby, then.

She is. Absolutely brilliant, though. Sorta wish you could see her, really. I think you'd like her. Middle name's Johanna, 'cause Mum wanted to give her a name that was sorta in memory of you, but Dad didn't want "Annie Doctor Tyler" or "Annie John Tyler," 'cause, y'know, the whole John Smith thing. So he suggested Johanna.

[laughs] Good old Jackie. Johanna is lovely, though. I'm sure she's brilliant. Well, you know, brilliant as babies are.

Oh, well, you know. Gurgling, crawling about, babbling, chewing on everything...and crying. Lots of that.

Any words yet?

Just dada, mama, baba, and rara, really. Ooh, hey, I have an idea. [Yes, these are vague sounds of Rose running up stairs]

[listens] What are you doing?

You'll see. Why d'you ask? [Oh, yes. Those are a few doors opening.]

[slyly] 'I have an idea' is usually followed by the most brilliant and ridiculous things.

You think so? ....this might actually be the second one. It involves talking to the baby over the phone. [Laughs] Oh, brilliant. She's awake.

[laughs] Go on then, put her on, I'll say hello.

Just a minute, then. [And, after a few seconds of random noise, there is clear baby gurgling and babbling to be heard!]

[grins and YOU CAN'T SEE IT ROSE but he's waving at the phone. then he remembers video phones aren't for a few more years. damn it] Hullo, Annie Johanna Tyler! I suppose you don't know me yet but I've heard good things about you. Brilliant work on the crawling and chewing on things.

[Oh, Doctor, she can hear you, and yes, that is snickering going on in the background while Annie happily babbles over the phone about Sheshee, her stuffed sheep]

[just kind of babbling at the poor baby] You know your older sister there is very fond of teddy bears. There's still one on the TARDIS, actually. You should talk her into giving you one of her's if she hasn't already. They're very good for sleeping with and there's no shame in sleeping with one's stuffed animals.
