23- Tinkering here and there

[Jack is sitting on the sofa normally found in his office, a small coffee table in front of him. On it lies several tools, along with what appears to be the pieces of his wristband. It has been taken apart completely, the leather strap holding only a hollow metal casing at this point. All the wiring and small parts are laid out neatly on the surface of the table, seemingly taken apart as thoroughly as possible without actually breaking anything.]

There's a bit of wiring I'm going to have to figure out how to replace, since it's only gong to last me another hundred years of so.

[He picks up a small, circular piece. It seems to be made of some sort of metal, completely smooth on one side. The other is covered with inter crossed wires of all colors, one on top of the other, seeming to form no particular patter. He points at a thin, yellow wire buried in the middle of it all] The metal has actually begun to chaff, though I'm not sure how.

No wonder it's such a mess! [gives him another look] What sort of tools were you working with? I can't imagine anything lying around back then, even if it was lying around Torchwood, could manage to do the trick without mucking it up a bit in the process.

I didn't have access to Torchwood equipment yet, definitely wasn't allowed to touch anything in the archives.

I did the best I could.
