[Have a Handy humming to himself in the kitchen as he goes about getting ingredients out of pantries and the refrigerator.  After speaking with Ray and Chris earlier, he is almost certain he knows how to make pancakes.  He has never actually done this, however.  He figures now would be as good a time as any to distract himself by testing out this assumption]

[Ray looks over at Handy.] The Boss keeps feedin' him all this shitty advice 'bout datin'. Never had to do any of the stuff he's recommended to get a date. [He then tilts his head back before deciding he wants a cigarette, and pulls a pack from his pockets.] Chris, birds don't want you to cook for 'em. If they wanted that, they'd just go live with one of their friends or sommat. Wouldn't need you for it, anyhow.

[Chris just shrugs.] Probably'll depend on the bird anyway.

[Handy considers Ray's advice and then turns to Chris] Well, why don't you see what happens next time you're out with a girl. See if she appreciates that sort of thing. I don't think it's necessary, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt either. Might save yourself a bit of money, too, instead of having to take her out someplace posh.

[Ray snorts and pulls out a cigarette, then lights it up.] 's a stupid idea.

[Insert embarrassment!] Uh, 's easier and costs a lot to have a flat of me own.

Well, that's a good plan at least. Save up some cash, get to afford your own place instead of throwing away money on rent and that nonsense.

I was living with someone and she kicked me out a couple times, had to stay with her parents for a couple weeks, so it's not that strange of a situation, living with your folks. Just means you'll probably have to go around to the girl's flat instead of taking her home.

[Ray just shakes his head in a good natured way.] I'll've retired 'fore that'd happen.

[A shrug, then without asking, he just pulls out a second cigarette and holds it out to Chris.]

[Chris accepts the cigarette, even as he pouts a bit.]

I'll move out eventually. [Glances at Handy.] Some bird kicked you out? Bugger, must've been a bad night. Were you dating her?

Yeah, but we fought a lot. It wasn't anything unusual.

So I know you're not cooking dinners, what are you doing when you fancy someone?

[Ray could say something here, Chris, but he says nothing to allow you to save face. Somewhat. But he's giving a knowing look to Chris, if you care to notice, Handy.]

[Chris rubs his hand awkwardly, so Ray knows it worked.]

Uhm, I dunno. I just be meself. Uh, took this one bird out for photos. Those little booths. She liked that. And to a club later. And drinks.

That's all good then. No need to worry about your living situation, it sounds like you've got it all squared away.

[and now he's going for the topic shift because he feels bad for putting all the focus on you, Chris]

Speaking of, do you think they have drinks in this kitchen, or do you think it's something you have to head over to that pub for?

Eh, probably gotta head to the pub for it.

[Chris holds up a finger. He's in the middle of finishing a rather nice sized pancake for himself. He slides it out, waits a second, then picks it up and starts eating it, rolled up style.] Okay, I'm ready.

[Handy wishes he brought a snack for the looooooooooong journey as he watches Chris eat his pancake. Still it's not really that long, and they are in the pub and yay they can drink and stuff!]
