[Have a Handy humming to himself in the kitchen as he goes about getting ingredients out of pantries and the refrigerator. After speaking with Ray and Chris earlier, he is almost certain he knows how to make pancakes. He has never actually done this, however. He figures now would be as good a time as any to distract himself by testing out this assumption]

[unconsciously her fingers go up to touch her cheek, but she catches herself and ends up rubbing the back of her neck instead]
Oh, right. There was a... minor dispute. All settled now, nothing to worry about!

What sort of dispute?

[she frowns, and it looks like it ought to hurt, what with that enormous bruise marring the side of her face and all. If it does hurt, you can't tell-- she's already frowning, after all.]
I... may have punched a Duke. But he hit me first, so I really think it was a matter of self-defense, if it was anything!

[looks at her, shocked and confused]
Well what was he doing going around hitting people?

[she clears her throat]
Now. Pancakes. What recipe are you using?

[gives her a look, but then grins at the assorted ingredients]
Recipe? Oh, I was just going to sort of wing it. I think I have the general idea. It's like on all those television programs, they just estimate. Pinch here, dash there. That sort of thing.

Would you just "wing it" if you were mixing dangerous chemicals together?

It's eggs and flour and milk and things. It's not going to explode or anything.
[beat]
Is it?

Or you might get something accidentally brilliant you weren't even planning on. Imagine the first person to ever make pancakes. They probably tried to make him follow some boring bread recipe or something. Imagine if he had just followed those recipes, instead of winging it as it were. We wouldn't even be here having this conversation, now would we?
