{Dero was nice enough to motivate me to make a posting schedule, so here's Diva! She's still in Haydée's body, so as soon as she came here, the uniform she had been wearing was gone. But still, she's sitting behind a desk with neat piles of paperwork, all in German. There's a bulky typewriter that takes up most of the desk, and a small desk radio that sounds like a German radio program, though Diva had turned it down quite a while ago.

She also looks surprisingly tired. She leans back in the wooden chair, putting her palms lightly over her eyes.}

Ne, it's really stupid. I really shouldn't care, shouldn't--

{But something said on the radio catches her attention, so she lifts her palms to look at the radio}

My, isn't that something? President Roosevelt traveled by aeroplane last week. I'm sure he was going to meet Mr. Churchill, actually. I wonder if Amshel or Solomon will be there too, actually~ It was winter when they met them, if I remember correctly...

You're not forcing anything, Sam. I'm happier, I think, because of Sam helping me. I've made...friends. And really good ones too! It's not lonely anymore. Well, it's kind of lonely still at home, but there's not much I can do about that.

{Warmly} And, well, I'd like to please Sam.

[on the subject of Diva's submissiveness...]

Misaki mentioned something about inequality between the sexes to me.

Did she really? I was wondering if she was going to tell you about that. It seemed to upset her a little.

[didorothy]

It is a fairly important issue.

[madamemoiselle]

Really? How odd, then. Why is it important?

[didorothy]

Because equality is important in any relationship. It's the foundation of all good ones.

[madamemoiselle]

That's not true, I know that much. If it were the truth, then human beings wouldn't have lasted as long as they have. Even in the very very old stories, women have always been the lesser. It's hardly a problem, yet you and Misaki both think it's so important.

[didorothy]

Not always! There were studies done - there are societies where women were dominant. Always have been. And there are hundreds of cases of women being greater than men in history, in legens. Back home, my DI - Maya Roy - was twice the copper as I am, and definitely in charge of our relationship.

[madamemoiselle]

{And of course, what she picks out of that is}

My, another girlfriend? Sam, are you sure you don't have a harem of your own?

[didorothy]

[pphhpt!!]

We'd been together for years! It wasn't--Diva, that's not the point!

Maya, Annie, and...well, I don't know about me, but! That's kind of cute, Sam.

[didorothy]

I don't--stop that. Maya and I were together years. We--she broke it off. And I'm not dating anyone else.

[madamemoiselle]

Yet you have two girls that care about you a lot, Sam. This Annie doesn't remember me, though. That's probably for the best, right?

[didorothy]

[from flustered to slightly emo - watch as Sam's moods transition!]

Probably. She'll have to find out sometime. If only because we can't trust the Guv to keep mum about it.

[madamemoiselle]

I figured. But it's nice to talk to her for now. I won't be surprised when he decides to tell her, and I'm not going to feel sad, really. That was my fault, after all.

[didorothy]

Maybe you should tell her. It hurts worse when you think someone's been keeping a secret.

[madamemoiselle]

I should tell her that I killed her?

[didorothy]

I don't.... [shuts his eyes, considering it for a moment. When he speaks again, he opens them]

You remember... what the Guv did to me. How he--[Sam can't say it, but he keeps himself from touching his neck] but it wasn't his fault. And I don't... I don't blame him for it, but if I forgot and if I had to find out from somebody else - if he didn't tell me himself... it would hurt. I'd feel like I was being lied to the whole time.

[madamemoiselle]

{Frowns uncertainly}

Well...I guess that makes sense, yes. Ne, but...{A pause before she nods}

I'll tell her. The next time I see Annie.

[didorothy]

As you're comfortable. I know how important friends are to you, so...

[madamemoiselle]

Mm, but what Sam said is true! I guess if she found out later, she wouldn't like me, but if I told her, maybe there's a chance. She's really nice, I mean.

{Smiles again} It'll be fine.

[didorothy]

[reaches out to squeeze her hand before letting go]

Good.

[madamemoiselle]

{But Diva doesn't let go}

Now, what were you saying about...statistics or something before I distracted you?

[didorothy]

Oh, there've been studies.... anthro isn't my field, but I've had to take a few equality courses in my career. I can't remember what it was - this ... anthropologist, maybe a pair of them, they were researching cultures and there was one where the roles of male and females in the group were entirely reversed from what it is in Western culture.

Ah, is that so? Why is it that most of the world is male-dominated today, then?
