[Martha, feeling decidedly weird (as anybody would after being shot and brought back to life), is quietly sitting on her cot near the kitchen, going through the medical supplies she has there and making a neat list of what's there and what she needs to get on a yellow legal pad she has resting on her lap.

Because she feels weird, she isn't as cautious as she might normally be, and one of the scalpels slips and slices deep into the pad of her left thumb. She curses under her breath, then notices that the blood oozing from the cut appears to be black. She grabs a gauze pad and presses it to her thumb to stem the bleeding - and so she can run tests on it later.]

[slow grin] You're back.

[ffff that means he probably knows] Yeah, I am.

[and have a hug!] When did you get back? Are you all right?

[d'awww, hugging him back tightly] I'm fine, Doctor. No need to worry about me.

[and cue seriousness]

You died. That's something I think I'm allowed to worry about. It's in the rules.

[nope, sorry, Martha fails at being serious; there's a teasing tone to her voice] There's rules now? I don't think I got a copy of those.

[srs bzns] Martha.

[Martha is very good at looking innocent] What?

What happened? Owen said you'd been shot.

[nod] I asked him to come take care of me. Figured I'd probably need a real doctor.

You fought with Lucy. [it's not a question]

Yeah. I usually do.

[nods] I---

[well, there are things he just can't talk about, right?] I'm glad you're back.

[the look in Martha's eyes is dark and unfathomable, and there are so many things she wants to ask him, and even more that she wants to tell him - but she doesn't]

I'm glad to be back.

But, congratulations. You've been somewhere I've never been.

[she rubs the back of her head] Not that I really remember much of it.

What do you remember?

[frowning in concentration] Nothingness...and then the Plane. I was on some sort of table, and the Twins were there. And then they gave me tea. [helpless shrug]

Tea?

Really?

[makes a little face] That's rather anti-climatic.

[helpfully] It was nice tea.

There had better be quite a bit going on in "nice".

Well, I mean, it wasn't the best bloody cup of tea I've had in my life. Maybe the afterlife, I suppose. [haha, isn't Martha funny? she thinks she is.]

[looks at her scrutinizingly]

The Master said you come back changed. Feel any different? [look! It's a stethoscope! He's a doctor!]

[snort] Well, my loathing for the Master is entirely unchanged, I can tell you that much. [she repositions the bell slightly, deciding against mentioning that it works better on bare skin]

Anything feel different? Emotions, thought patterns? Your heart sounds all right. A little faint...
