[Aniki, still a horse, appears on the plane. She's splattered with mud. Her mane and tail are tangled and thick with burrs; they're thick around her ankles as well. She stamps, trying and failing to dislodge some of the damn things. ]

[Anyone with mind-reading abilities can probably hear her swearing blue, red, green and purple streaks in several different languages.]

[He happens to see Aniki and smiles.] Hello, Aniki! You look...like you need a bath, actually.

[Her ears prick forward at the sound of his voice and she trots over to him, shoving him in the chest with her nose. {Hello, lad.} ...of course, he probably can't hear her without that Contact business. She sighs.]

[He laughs.] Glad to brighten your day, Aniki. I'd ask you what happened but I'm not sure you can tell me. Care to try, anyway?

[The sound of his voice is making her strangely happy. {Gods-cursed roads, you'd think the king would keep them in repair, but no. And who has to break a new path? The biggest member of the traveling party, naturally.} She noses at the pocket that smells like sugar cubes rather absent-mindedly while she rambles away in her head.]

Ah, well, I can't really understand you but I get the feeling you had a long ride.

[He notices where she's nosing and pouts a bit.] Sorry, I did promise Amaterasu I wouldn't feed you sugar cubes anymore. Though they really are delicious. Would you like to try a jelly baby instead?

[A pause as she realizes what she's doing. {...oh. Is that what that smell is.} And then a dubious look, because 'jelly baby' DOES NOT SOUND TASTY.]

[He gives her a pout.] What? They're good! A British treat. [Digs into that pocket and pulls out a red one.] I assume a jelly baby is safe. Humans tend to eat them.

[Sniff. Sniff. She lips it up. {Between you and Rosto I'll have colic before we're half way to the c...} Oh that is yummy. {Half way to... you know. Where we're going. The see.... the city.} WHERE IS THE POCKET FROM WHENCE THIS DELIGHT CAME...]

[He blinks and takes a step back.] Careful, Aniki. Remember, keep your wits about you.

[She fixes him with a beady-eyed stare. {I'm all present and account for, all right?}]

[He does still feel like she's aware, so...] All right, all right. One more can't hurt. [He digs out another - yellow! - and hands it to her.] You're going to need a bath, too.

[Sigh. {No, lad, do you thee... think?} She lips the jelly baby up, chalking her mental slips up to fatigue. {Should th... th... think of a more appetizzzzzing name for those things.}]

[The Doctor tilts his head.] Hm, well. I suppose we could get you into the stream with a bucket.

[That sounds good to her. Pretty much anything he might suggest would sound good to her. {...Suppose it wasn't so bad. The clearing. Good work. Useful work.}]

[He nods.] Accompany me to the stream? I would hold out my arm for you but, well, you know.

[Happens to be nearby and edges over calmly] Do you want help in getting those out?

[She bobs her head at him and snuggles her nose against his neck, making a pleased sound. {Give them a start, me coming back clean.} And she steps out toward the stream.]

[He pats her muzzle fondly as they walk.] You'll have to forgive me for before. I'm rather fond of horses. I think 'Arthur' is a good name for a horse.

[Pretend I didn't COMPLETELY forget about the last thread between these two]

[he totally failed at catching her when she first became a horse, so he's just walking along and does a double take]

A horse! Oh, that's brilliant!

[notices her current state now, and approaches]

You're an absolute mess though, aren't you?

[EEE MUZZLEPATS FROM-- er. Wait. She shakes her head. {Forgive you for what, lad?}]

[{No, I like them fine where they are.} Horsey sarcasm ftw.]

[OH THAT'S NICE. ...it's okay, I love you anyway. {...yes, it's still Aniki, gods curse it.}]

[...and since Rosto has her sword she has no way of indicating who she is.]

[Doh.]

[{Gods save me from equine enthusiasts.}]

[Brigitta knows that was a stupid question and will now be narrowly restraining herself from facepalming] There is no need to give me that sort of look, I did just get up.

[Edges closer] Please don't kick me if you can help it, it's hard getting those things out when you're dying.
