[There is a massive draft horse of indeterminate breeding on the plane. It does not look happy to be there. In fact all the vibes it's giving off are those of extreme displeasure. Its ears are back, the shuffling and snorting its doing a clear indication that it wants people to STAY AWAY. There are torn clothes on the ground, a broken belt--and the well-cared-for hilt of a sword showing above the battered scabbard in which the sword itself is sheathed.

Yeah. If you recognize the weapon she always carries, you might recognize the pissed-off expression on the horse's face.

Aniki has not had a good day.]

[The Doctor sees the panic and moves forward, slow and careful, his steps deliberate and firm. He realises what's wrong, at least this time he does.]

Aniki. Aniki, it's all right. Do you hear me? [His voice is soothing as he speaks. When he reaches her, he pets her muzzle.] I'm right here. Standing right here. There's ground. See? Ground.

[She rubs the side of her face against him, trembling, still rooted to the spot. Aniki. The kind one is addressing her, she knows, though how she knows is neither clear nor important. She breathes in his reassuring scent, listens to his voice and her breathing gets less wild. She wants him to keep talking. Still no moving. No ground there. No ground. She shudders.]

[The Doctor continues the reassuring strokes and gentle words.] I know, it's a bit strange, isn't it? But it's all right. I'm standing here, right, Aniki? So! Nothing to fear.

[She's still tense and still absolutely refuses to move, but she's not out-and-out panicking, at least. She presses her head against his chest and whickers.]

[He keeps stroking her and frowns.] Tell you what. I'm going to cover your eyes, Aniki. All right? [With that, he does indeed cover her eyes. With his coat. Yep.]

[It takes a few minutes, but after while she calms down and tugs at his shirt.]

[He smiles and peels back the coat.] Feeling better, Aniki?

[As the good smell of the coat and the calm and safety of its warm dark draw away, she tenses up again. Not a great deal, but still. She snuggles close to him as best a horse her size can.]

[He considers her, stroking her mane as he does.] Oh, this is a bit bothersome, isn't it? Hm. Maybe I can get you to... [First try: the old dangling carrot trick. He takes a few steps away, getting another carrot and holding it out of reach.] C'mon. It's all right. Just a few steps.

[She shifts her weight in agitation, leaning forward without moving toward him.]

[He sighs when she won't come and goes back to her, giving her the carrot.] I'll have to dig up some reins for you, I think.

[...yummy. She has her carrot and her kind one. She is perfectly content to not move. She lips at him gently, managing to get her mouth around one side of his glasses and tugging them off.]

[He pets her a moment longer before disappearing again for the TARDIS. This time, he returns with reins! Also sugar cubes. He's not sure if Aniki will take to this rein thing and thus sugar cubes.]

Aniki? I'm going to help lead you, all right? I just have to put these reins on you.

[With that, he begins to try.]

[She snuffles at the sugar cubes, trying to get at them while he's doing whatever it is that he's doing.]

[He gives her a sugar cube for holding still and then smiles as he finishes putting the reins on.] There we are. Good enough, I think. Comfortable? [He gives them a gentle tug to check if they're too tight.]

[She tugs back, looking mildly affronted, and then takes a step toward him to try and get another sugar cube.]

[He gives another one, raising his eyebrows.] Stubborn, aren't you? Not surprising. All right, well. We're going to have to try this walking. You can't stay here forever. [Holding the reins and still keeping a few sugar cubes out, he walks forward, expecting and hoping that she follows.]

[She does, her mind focused on the pile of sweets in his hand. Do want. :|]

[He leads her forward more easily now, his walk careless.] Hm, well! I got you to walk. That's progress. I'm not really sure where we're going, though. This may wear off in a few days. Or it may not. I don't really know what's going on. But! You will need someone to keep an eye on you.

[She whickers, as though in agreement, but what she's really thinking about is how he needs to STOP MOVING so she can eat those.]

Oh! I have an idea.

[He hums and leads her to the forest. He's still holding the sugar cubes but he's not giving them yet. He's just in a good mood and laughs as he leads her onto the solid grass.]

[She startles a bit at the change in the feel of the ground, and then notices the grass, she turns around, walks up to the edge of the grass... and stops. Natural fence!]

[He gives her a smile and takes the reins off now, tossing them aside.] There you go, girl! How's that? You can run free here.

[She is more interested in him and those sugar cubes. Nose nose nose.]

Oi, you! You can't eat only sugar! Are you hungry? [Holds them away from her.]
