[Beyond is standing hunched over on the Astral Plane, looking around and sucking the tip of his index finger in thought. His voice is quiet, from lack of use.]

There is a 30% chance I'm dreaming, and a 69% chance I'm hallucinating.

[After looking around for a while longer, he takes his finger out of his mouth and puts his hand in his pocket, like his other one is, and moves on to more important matters:] Does anyone have...jam? No, no. I've tried that. Ah...perhaps, yes. Yes. Strawberry jam? [A wide grin slowly breaks over his face.]

This...this is an opportunity. It is a break. It has been so long since I had jam. Why is that? Why...is there no sugar? What is the purpose?

[He pauses, putting his hand back in his mouth and chewing the fingernail.]

What are you all doing here?

Skipping around? [His eyes are rather wide.] Do you time travel? [That would certainly explain the weird data he sees about the Doctor.]

[a gesture towards his clothes, eyebrows rising just slightly]

[B's eyes are still wide, and he's sucking his finger.] Time travel? Huh...

[And B grins because the Doctor managed to guess. He nods.] California. Do you travel land as well as time?

Time and space, once upon a time. I seem to be stuck in London. You're trapped as well, though I suppose you already were?

I am trapped, no matter how you look at it - though this place has helped somewhat.

Something new, at least. In my experience the worst part of being imprisoned is the sheer tedium.

I suspect I've been so since encountering this place. The same people who bring us here are grounding us.

They also ground us? How fascinating... But for what purpose?

It's an experiment, for them - perhaps they wanted to set certain parameters.

I've been watching for patterns, but none of them seem to hold up. Perhaps picking people at random is part of it.
