049: Fade to Red [Joint Post]

[They appear crouched on the Plane, having just come from this. They both look like they've essentially just had The Day From Hell. Diva is covered in blood, most of it her own, and she's still bleeding from the ears. She's paler than normal and her eyes have a cloudy, glazed look to them; her movements are sluggish. Hei is covered in blood as well, black mixed with red, and he's bleeding rather profusely from the nose. He starts coughing and spits a glob of blood onto the Plane floor. Both of them look like they're only seconds from either passing out or dying.]

[Diva is more out of it than Hei is as her brain tries to fix the damage from the sedatives, so Hei is the one to speak.]

Mu...now might be a good time...

Well...Part of the reason that I need to drink blood is that I can't make my own, really. Or...I think Amshel said that I'm not good at it? Something like that. So before I died, when I drank blood, then I would fill my veins again, and then my stomach. Ah, but since my blood's not the same, it doesn't quite work.

[mercwamouth]

I don't get it. Why do you and Sam have the same kind of blood?

[madamemoiselle]

We both died here. When you die here, forever, I mean, then the Twins bring you back with this blood.

[mercwamouth]

What about Hei? He's died here, right?

[madamemoiselle]

{She just nods, starting to comb through her matted hair with her fingers}

You should ask him when you guys get out.

[madamemoiselle]

I know he has. I know when anyone here does. Their blood doesn't sound the same once they die.

[mercwamouth]

No, I meant you should ask him for some. He kinda owes you anyway.

[madamemoiselle]

Ah, but he doesn't really have much for himself right now, does he?

[mercwamouth]

That's why I said "when you guys get out".

[madamemoiselle]

Mm, it'll take longer than that, though. Blood takes a while to come back. It's not like he'll be better tomorrow, you know?

[mercwamouth]

Well who else do you got?

[madamemoiselle]

Let's see...There's Gene, Sam, Misaki, Hei, ummm...who else? I think there's someone else, but I don't know who.

[mercwamouth]

Maybe Misaki? I don't think she's got a shortage of blood at the moment.

[madamemoiselle]

...{She frowns sourly, looking down}

Ne, she won't help me. Misaki hates me.

[mercwamouth]

What? Why?

[madamemoiselle]

I have no idea! She got angry at me the last time we talked and said really terrible things!

{Waving her hand as she speaks, imitating Misaki's voice, and quite well. Perfectly, even.} "A selfish, clueless, life-sucking monster who wouldn't know what it means to lose a child if you killed one yourself?" "Congratulations, go suck a bloodbank dry and leave me alone?"

{She crosses her arms} Ne, she even said that the only reason that De--Wade cared about me is because...Well, it was that "He's immortal. You can kill him as many times as you want and no one has to know that you enjoy it. And he is a bit of a masochist. Maybe that's why he likes you."

That's really rude, isn't it? I didn't even do anything! It's really terrible, and Sam thinks I'm terrible because I got angry and hurt her!

[mercwamouth]

...Well...she was going through a lot. And she was drunk. She probably didn't mean...

I don't care! Even when humans are too drunk to know what they're saying, it's not like they lie about things like that!

{Muttering} They just say things that they normally keep in their own heads. It's really stupid.

[mercwamouth]

She lost a daughter for cryin' out loud.

Does that excuse what she said? Really?

...Yes? I mean, no... I mean... it at least entitles her to a chance to apologize.

[madamemoiselle]

{Sighs, frowning still} I guess. I'll let her, but...I don't know if I can forgive her. It's...painful, I guess. I liked her, really, but I guess she hated me all this time. It was mean, the things she said.

[mercwamouth]

I figure she hated everything that night. It's not like there's never been a time when you've been out of your mind and did things you didn't mean to do.

I didn't do that to myself, though.
