Dossier Thirty

[Henrietta is hidden in one of the stalls of the bathrooms in the coliseum, puking into the toilet. She's sweating, shivering, her eyes slightly unfocused.] It's changed a lot, I guess. That's my fault, though. [Urk, shouldn't have tried talking to herself. She heaves again, but nothing else comes up.]

...ah...I guess that's a good thing.

[[Tags will be slow, as I'm still churning away on assignments, but I was going crazy with boredom and this is a good way to reward myself between sections of essay. Oh, and Henrietta is de-angeled and back at the Agency now.]]

[The Doctor rubs his cheek.] Increasing your formality, perhaps? You've overcome it now, though?

Well, it's probably related to listening to authority. Calling your "superiors" by their rank and titles, that sort of thing tends to lead to submission. [He frowns.] Do you feel any other changes?

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-12-05 10:28 am (UTC)(link)
No, I suppose you wouldn't. [He mulls on it in silence, not really looking pleased.]

Ah, right, sorry. [He smiles at her, though it's tired.] You've had a rather complicated time of things, haven't you?

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-12-05 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
That is a good point. Does that bother you? That it's complicated?

[identity profile] salvagestime.livejournal.com 2008-12-05 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
It was probably quite good overall for most people, despite the complexities. Though, that conditioning...I know you've heard it all before but I do hope you're thinking about what others have said on it.

[He sighs and touches her shoulder, trying to look at her.] Henrietta. If they wanted to, they could do things painlessly. Without hurting you at all. But they don't.

Because if they did care about your health, if they did care about your well-being, they wouldn't need to condition you at all.

[He notices her tiredness and pauses to shrug out of his coat, putting it around her shoulders so she can bundle into it.

More gently now.]

Like what sort of things?

What sort of things do they usually teach you about, then? Manually, I mean. Not the conditioning.
