[Enter Firo, looking alarmed and unhappy. He's wearing a formal bronze tunic and black silk breeches, a sleeveless black overrobe embroidered in gold. Bracelets with what looks like a royal crest stamped across them are clasped tightly around his wrists.]

The hell is going on. Angie? Angie! [He takes a few steps, turns and paces the other direction.] Dammit. Angie, where are you?!

[[And here's where Firo's half of the experiment starts]]

[ She was looking pretty sad and forlorn earlier, but that goes away when she sees Firo. Now it's more shock, and a bit of panic. ] Fi-- Firo?

Angie! [His voice has lost its New York accent, sounding now like it belongs on a nobleman's tongue.] I woke up in a fancy room in the palace, everyone speaking as though they know me--it's just like before, though in reverse. What are we going to do?

[She's not the only one shocked and panicked at the moment.]

Palace? Which palace? My palace?

Is it the same? Can you remember the people you talked to?

Yes, your palace! I can. It's... [He shakes his head] It's unimaginably strange.

... [ Giggle. ]

Just... you talking like that...

I can't precisely help it. It just... comes out that way.

It's adorable. [ Snugglehug! ]

[dfljd awkward blush] It's damned strange. [But it's not as vehement as before]

It looks like the experiment goes both ways. [ She steps back and gives him a once over. ] Sir Firo, hmm?

Well, commoners don't usually dress like you're dressed.

...that's right. Of course not. [He groans and sits down on the plane] Sir Firo. I confess, I already feel like a joke.

A joke, huh? You realize you're talking like most the suitors I've had? It's how noble men are supposed to act.

[ She sits down across from him. ] Guess it's the same as it was with me. Remember anything you think you shouldn't?

[A pause, then a nod] A great deal, as a matter of fact.

At least you sound more honest than what I'm used to hearing. [ She looks down at the stars beneath her. ]

Growing up in Altena, being in the castle? [ She looks at him, there's a bit of sadness to her smile. ] While my mother was...

[Stands up so he can put his arms around her gently, though there's a background twitch of knowledge that he'd best not do this in the palace where anyone can see.] Yes.

Do you remember the others? Hawk, or Riesz, or Duran? [ She leans against him. ]

Yes. And Carlie. And... I remember everything. Traveling with you, saving Altena... [He shakes his head]

Just as detailed as my turn was. [ She snuggles a little closer. ] Don't worry. It won't last very long.

[He rests his face against her hair, ignoring the little voice that says it's ungentlemanly] I'm not worried. Not really. Who knows, it could very well be entertaining.

Entertaining, hmm... [ She smiles a little. ] Maybe. But we'll have to keep our hands to ourselves when we're back there. I'm sure you don't need Mother putting pressure on you on top of everything else.

[wince] I would prefer to avoid that unpleasantry, yes.

[ And she's giggling again. Dammit, Firo, why must you sound so cute? ]

[Fffff] I'm glad you're amused by all this.

Well, think about how you felt when I started talking like a girl from your world.

[That does get a smile from him. And then a frown] Oh. I had meant to ask...

Hmm?

What now?

It seems the experiment has reversed itself.

And a nobleman of some kind.

[He can't help a snort of amusement.] I'm having trouble with that picture.

Any danger yet, though?

None that I've experienced.

[Blinks and is silent a moment, since Hei doesn't think he's ever heard a sentence like that from Firo. Then he shrugs.]

Well, you've already gotten used to dealing with mafia men and monsters--now you just have to get used to dealing with the court, I suppose.

[Guess who's still annoyed about Angela getting shot? This is the first time he's seen Firo since then and he isn't happy.] Firo.

[His fist clenches and he lets out a slow breath] You said you would protect her.

And I failed her in the most spectacular way possible.

What. Happened. She nearly died Firo.

And I'm sure if you were there you'd have done much better.

I might have. Tell me what happened so I can judge that.

[For some reason is resistant] It was her own choice to come. Who was I to stop her?

You should have stopped her because you knew whatever you were doing could be dangerous and not the sort of danger she's used to! Even with false memories, that wasn't her world Firo. You knew that!
