{There's only so much you can do/study whilst waiting for your (mostly) wonderful plan of a society's collapse to fall into place. So! Dietrich comes to the Plane, sitting at a table with a smile charming enough to melt any girl's heart. Or boy, if you swing that way.}
You know, I realize that a few generous people offered to let me borrow some of their literature or technology to study, but I've taken up only a few of those offers. So if anyone here wouldn't mind lending me a book or some item from their world for a short time, I would greatly appreciate the gesture.
{A pause, then he figures explaining it now would save his breath later,} Ah, but I suppose explaining the "why" part would be useful. You see, contrary to most people here, my world is one of limited technology and literature. It seems to be the future for most, the year 3073, but 900 years ago there was a war that pretty much destroyed the world, knowledge quite included. I'm something of a researcher for these things, we call them "Lost Technology", so I'm obviously quite interested in seeing what other worlds have to offer...
{Then nodding to the short stack of books on the table} I also have a few books for Miss Ryoko, if you're here.

Ah, I might have some things...not fancy things, but I could try and find some? What kinds of 'Lost Technology' did you want?
no subject
{He smiles} Trust me, anything you think isn't fancy would be wonderful to me. But what kinds...? History books are very useful, but technology in general is useful. Weapons, entertainment, communications, I'm really not picky since you're offering such a valuable thing.

I hope I didn't keep you waiting, Dietrich-san. It took longer than I anticipated to get some of these.
((Delayed fail!mun is delaaaaayed plz forgive me :<))

{Then thoughtfully,} Though, is there anything you'd like in exchange? I feel kind of bad just taking these.

{He's very happy, really! So he picks up the select few that he picked to hold them up} I can't boast quite as impressive a load, but there's a history book from after Armageddon, a collective of the Church's pope's autobiographies, and a book, if you'd call it that, that I've written about some of the things that I've made. It's more like a research journal, but actually making books is expensive, so.

[If it were anyone else, there would probably be a fangirl squee right here.] They're more impressive than you think! Being able to find out what happened in your reality without having to merge with it... It certainly saves me plenty of time! Not to mention seeing your research should be very interesting~

But you're welcome to keep those. I don't need them back.

Thank you very much! Are you sure you don't mind? You said one of these was a personal journal...
no subject
Not at all. Even though it's a journal of work, I keep everything stored in the computer systems that I operate.
no subject
As long as you're okay with it.

{Thoughtfully,} Though, if you'd really like to learn about this place, the other worlds, whatever you want, you should ask a sentient being called the TARDIS. It's a time traveling machine that contains...quite a lot of knowledge. Though, she's terribly reluctant to offer it.

So - I want to.

I wonder, is that what constitutes the phrase "ignorance is bliss"?

Ah, but I've been fine. I haven't been coming here often, since I have work to do at "home", but that should reach its peak soon. As far as the TARDIS, nothing that dropping off the Plane wouldn't solve has bothered me.

Ah, but my work is very interesting. The politics are nothing new, but it's quite fun to have my puppet. Former noble of the Methuselah empire, now deceased, so I've reanimated him with my strings. Playing with his best friend through that body is also very fun. It's a good way to pass the time, and ends up being useful because of the other's position.

{Smiling~ Radu is Dietrich's favorite toy, after all} The two were childhood friends, actually. Radu joined the Orden quite a while ago, but never told his friend, of course. It was only recently, in fact. The two of them had gone on the behalf of the Methuselah Empire to keep peace at the Vatican, but Radu, ah...we'll just say interfered a bit. A few dead priests and nuns, an assassination attempt on a prominent cardinal, things like that. Then it came to the point that his friend was a hindrance, so he attempted to kill him.
Obviously, he didn't succeed, but it was fun to watch all the same. And without my strings even, it's hard to believe.
