[The Griever suddenly appears on the Plane — but he's not alone. Pinning him to the invisible floor is a humongous, see-through purple and blue dragon (with a golden amulet tied around its neck). Its voice is loud and booming.]

NO HURT.

I-I get it! You can— get off now! [The Griever struggles under the heavy claws for a moment, while the dragon pulls back, intent to breathe fire and end him once and for all.]

[Zuko lingers a second to make sure she's okay, then he shakes his head and drops from the Plane.]

It was under your bed, in a corner. I found it while I was cleaning. I was going to tell you, I wasn't going to keep it, but I didn't want to put it somewhere and forget.

[ D: ] But isn't that kind of irresponsible?

Because if you just throw it in, then anyone could find it, or it could pop out somewhere else, couldn't it?

[identity profile] fireintothesky.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
But what if someone bad in there finds it?

[identity profile] fireintothesky.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
But what if they know what it does, or if they find out and put it on someone else?

[GAH THAT 'WE'LL TAKE CARE OF IT THEN' BUSINESS AGAIN. She just frowns at the plane.]

No one here ever takes preemptive action. It's always damage control, not risk assessment and prevention. It doesn't make sense. It still doesn't make sense.

It's not, though. It's taking a responsibility that circumstances made yours and throwing it at someone else.

It's safer with you than it is floating somewhere, right? And you know what it does. If you can't find the proper authorities to deal with a dangerous article you have to safeguard it until it can either be properly locked away or destroyed.
