[Cy appears on the plane in a huddle, muttering to herself. She looks ill. Everything about her seems dull, like someone took an eraser to a sketch of a gray cat and couldn't scrub the image away.]

I don't like this. I don't like this, ladies and gents.

[She sneezes, and there's a flash of light around her. She curls into a ball and starts shivering.]

[Her temperature swings like a pendulum, unnaturally quick from one extreme to the other.] They got me good this time.

[deep frown] Who? The Twins?

[Spasm] Got their shiny silver fingers in and cracked open my head.

[gently strokes her back] And then?

I dunno, Dad, it's all grays and blinding after that.

[his eyes widen, but he assumes it is Cy being Cy] Can we close it again?

[Double-voice mode is go] It's too late for that now.

[he stiffens, hands pulling away just a bit; his voice is, if anything, more level than before, more careful] What are you doing?

[Gives him a bleary look.] Who's you? Me or them?

Either is fine.

[She sits up.] I'm speaking, Dad, what's it sound like.

You are using a voice that isn't yours.

[Sulking] I tried so hard to find you. I always try so hard.

Stop it.

[Shudder. In two voices, for a moment, before Cy's vanishes completely.] It hurts--

Dad? Aren't you glad I found you?

If it was her you would be.

[only stares, for a moment, before slowly shaking his head]

You're not Adric.

Then who am I?

You don't want me back like this, do you.

[Little mew and she shakes her head around. In Adric's voice, shifting slowly to her own:] Can't stop it, can't stop it, comes and goes and stays.

[whispers] No. Not like this.

[gently cups Cy's chin in one hand] Cy. You're strong. You can come back, and you can stay.

[Peers up at him, wide-eyed. In her own voice:] No world-saving kitties here.

[gentle smile firmly in place]

No? I seem to hear one.

They broke in, and now they won't stay out.

[softly, placing two fingers on her temples] Perhaps I can help?

[Meep.]

Archelaus went in there once. He didn't like it very much.
