[feels the need to talk and just forget the past couple of days] All right! Time to take care of business. Hm, anything to report, Coil members? Oh, speaking of that...

Yep! Daichi is my hacking rival. He's not that great, though. Like he wastes all his heavy artillery like rockets and machine gun boxes too fast. And he never focuses on the important parts, like bypassing firewalls to get encrypted data. That's why I came out on top when we challenged Isako.

You do realise that most of that's a bit above my head, right?

[grins] I'm pretty good with computers. But it's basically who can beat the other in 20 minutes.

And this is all perfectly legal, I'm sure.

[coughs and looks away] Ehh, it's perfectly harmless! [avoids using the word 'legal']

Technically Satchii won't shoot you for hacking, so it's not super illegal if Satchii doesn't care.

What do the police think about hacking?

[tilts her head] Hmm. I think it doesn't matter. Satchii is programmed to act on the laws of the cyber domain. Anything that breaks the law gets shot.

--wait, what??

Ah, didn't I mention it? Satchii and its Kyuu-chans will shoot anything illegal with their lasers, regardless of the degree of it. I haven't been shot before but my mouse... [shakes her head] Satchii is stupid. It runs purely on strict programming.

Hey. [pats her shoulder] I'm sorry.

[blinks] Huh? No, it's fine! I learned from it, anyway.

[frowns] What did you learn?

[tries to make herself sound callous] That everything dies eventually. So you shouldn't get attached to things. There's no point in it. It'll only hurt when they're gone.

[frowns] What?

Just... [slips his hand from her shoulder down her arm, clasping her hand in his own] It hurts, I know. But I wouldn't... It's worth it. True happiness is worth all the pain that comes with losing someone.

[looks down] The logical thing to do wouldn't be to care, though, right? And it's usually distracting from a person's goals.

Too much logic and you're not really alive. [crouches down so he's on eye-level with her] You've got so much life in you, Fumie. Don't hide away from living it because you're scared.

[frowns and moves back slightly] I'm not scared! I... [just slumps a bit] He was my pet for three years. I got him when I was eight. I put everything into raising him, too. He was just a little mouse. I gave him a couple of upgrades so that he would run smoother. [quickly] Dennou pets, you know. Most people don't have real ones anymore. Satchii doesn't care though...even if it's harmless.

Is she? Well, that's not very nice of her.

Yeah, well, that's Fumie in a nutshell. Y'know, she bullies her little brother! It's horrible! The poor kid bawled to me for help. How could I refuse?

[frowns; Mother Samantha is not pleased by this thought] Does she? I'll talk to her about it.
