[Ianto's working on fixing a heavily modified piece of tech from instructions Tosh has given him.  He's alternating between paper and machine, working methodically through the instructions.

Loud pterodactyl is loud, and so it's easier to get it done on the Astral Plane than at the Hub (or so Ianto hopes).]

A lot of alien-tech thrown together. [He looks at it thoughtfully for a moment.] We should probably rename it at some point; I'm pretty sure it doesn't even do what it was originally meant to anymore.

Alien tech. [Laughs a little bit.] Still don't quite believe all that, but I suppose I gotta, don't I?

Well, you don't have to. It's just slightly easier for you if you do. Saves you coming up with your own explanation.

You'll be surprised by how easy it is to get used to the idea of aliens. [He lets him look, but he's keeping a close eye on him just in case.]

Yeah, well. Adjusted to the idea of immortals pretty quick, so. [He steps back, because even with Szilard's memories and the alchemist's instincts that come with them, he isn't much of a scientist.] Must be a genius to tinker around with somethin' like this.

[He grins, handing him the scrappy piece of paper.] Nope- just good at following instructions. I was never anything better than an average student.

[Chuckles.] Me either really. Well, didn't have much schooling to begin with. Never really cut out for the life of a scrub.

Not really; by my time you usually need some sort of education to get a job, so it's rare for people not to attend school at least some of the time.

[Makes a face at that.] Spose I'll have to go and get educated at some point then, huh.

You might not have to. It's pretty easy to get falsified records, and by the time you get to my year you'll probably know enough just through experience.
