[There is a ninja somewhere off to the side of the Plane kitchen. Actually, no, he's not a ninja. He's a Time Lord trying to cook in private. And by 'cook' I mean he's having too much fun flipping the pancake to actually cook it properly. That poor pancake. Pity it. It's being juggled in the pan. But he's dragged over enough equipment and ingredients to sit around and try to cook pancakes in what he hopes is a low traffic area.

Side story! He's trying to cook here instead of on his TARDIS because there was a chance the Master would come in raiding for scones and ruin his amazing cooking process. Blame the Master for everything.

So there you have it. A cooking Doctor]

[Tries to hide a little bit of disappointment >>] Ah. I don't get to leave much.

Really? Well. [takes her hand and puts the bag into it] There! You can have those.

[Ffffffwut. She looks from the bag to him and back.] But... Signore...

[totally not getting it!] Yes? I can always get more.

[D...do want...] Are you... sure it's okay?

[nods] Of course! I don't mind spreading jelly babies.

[Twee! She's staring at the bag with a mixture of confusion and delight.]

[relaxed now] I might have to bring you more treats if those are new.

[Gapes up at him] But... I haven't earned them.

You don't have to earn sweets. They're a treat.

But that's what treats are. They're rewards.

Well, I suppose technically they are. But they're also "just because".

[o:] Just because what?

Well, just...because. Because of no reason.

[Staaaring at him] Not for Christmas or Easter or for doing a mission right?

Nope! Just because it's Tuesday or you wanted some chocolate or because your favourite cartoon is on.

[Looking at the bag again.] So... could I give people things for no reason?

Yep! That's the best way to give things, I hear.

So... So... When Signore Jose brings me things, but there hasn't been a mission, or training exercises... It's not because I did something right. It's just... because?

I imagine it's just because he wants to give you something.

But... why would he... [B-blushing.]

Usually friends give gifts, I think.

...I bet I could make clothes for Triela's bears. She's collecting them, one every Christmas from her fratello! She's naming them after the Seven Dwarves. It's almost Christmas, should I wait until then? [Baw, she is excited about this gift thing now.] But then it wouldn't be just because.

[grins] If you want to give her something, then go ahead.
