014 - And he saw neither sun nor moon / But heard the roaring of the sea

[Aniki is not in a particularly good mood, it seems. She's staring into space, sitting on a rail of the wooden fence that circles the packed-dirt practice yard she's towed along with her to the plane. There's training equipment of various kinds slung over the fence--wooden swords and leather belts and scabbards, harnesses, weights.]

[She has a shapeless brown bag thrown over her shoulder and seems to be stroking its contents. A little furry brown-gray kitty head pokes up for a moment and disappears again.]

Oh, now, Laddiebuck. It's not that scary.

[ACK. He manages to get the staff up just in time.]

... That works. [He's really starting to regret this.]

Don't lose focus to chatter at me. You've lost your stance already.

[hfjdshflkjdf STANCE REGAINED. He's glaring though.]

...

[And since he's glaring, he doesn't get a warning this time. :| ]

[SHHFJKFHLKDHFJKHFKJ he holds it but only because of a miracle.] Argh!

Stance. [Pauses a breath for him to get back into it.] High block. [Strikes out again.]

[Right. He's not doing too bad at following.]

[Good lad! Once she's sure he has that one pretty well, she takes up another stance. (http://www.martialstaff.com/entries/links/quartersreprint.gif)] Middle.

Uhhh... like this?

[He's almost there. Muscle memory only goes so far.]

[Makes minute corrections, privately impressed that he's as close to right as he is. It wouldn't do to compliment him so early on, though. :| ]

[She takes her own staff and swings at his side.] Middle.

Agh! [He was a little slow that time, and fumbles.]

[And probably gets smacked on the fingers, though she isn't trying this time.]

[Ow doesn't even cover it, but he takes the proper pose.]

[Aw, she's so proud. Only uh--] High block.

[Swing!]

Augh! [He's starting to catch on! :D]

Middle. [Swing! Good job, Yuuto!]

[He makes it! And starts thinking that maybe this isn't so bad. Care to show him otherwise?]

[If you insist~] High.

[And she swings at his stomach.]

[MEAN. MEAN MEAN MEAN. Yuuto gasps as he's hit and falls to his knees.]

W-... you...!!

[Leans on her staff, impassive.] Wh, I?

You tricked me!

[Zero change in expression.] And why do you think that is?

Because you're trying to kill me.

[Sigh.] No.
