Pressed Between the Pages of a Book

[Reinette is walking, her appearance a notable change to her most recent visit. Some might suggest she is actually two different women. Her color is high, and dressed for the day she is talking -- a book in one hand and a parasol in the other. Calm and relaxed, her steps suggest an easy confidence. She is also obviously most taken with her book, and pleased with its contents.

---until she actually stops reading, looks up, and takes full and complete note of her surroundings]

No.

[The vocal equivalent of stomping her foot?]

This is absolutely unacceptable. First the skies. Then, of course, time itself. Louis was distraught. He thought I had left him in truth and -- it is one thing for the Doctor to appear throughout my life at his leisure. It is not right for me to do the same. It seems to me it is best that I actually be present to get about the business of living it.

[A first edition of the very first volume of Diderot and D’Alambert's Encyclopaedia is tossed from her hand, and skitters out of sight, disappearing fully from the plane]

What is happening? And what is being done about it?

Times gone mad and now the world is leaking bits of itself? Oh, this is just grand.

I've no notion. All I know is at the start of this, I was in the Rowan Inn sharing a drink. I came here and when I popped back the entire place was aflame and coming down on my head.

None that I've heard. 'course I've not been here much the past few days.

You, as well, have been affected by this, child? How unfortunate.

It would appear there is not, no.

[frowns]

I am uncertain as to what is occurring here on the Plane. There is no logic to the variations and time anomalies. [looks away] As for myself ... what do you mean?

[identity profile] brigadiertardis.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
[tightens her jaw, but meets Reinette gaze for gaze]

It ... hurts, yes. It is unnatural, painful. I ... feel as though I do not belong.

[identity profile] brigadiertardis.livejournal.com 2008-08-18 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
I do. Time is what I am, what runs through my being like blood through your veins. To suffer this ... it is difficult.

[glances to the 'sky,' uncertain]

I feel as I did when first travelling to the divergent universe. Without Time, I have no purpose. How can I belong when I've nothing to contribute? I cannot do even this small thing, why should I exist? Without Time, Reinette, you at least serve a purpose. What is mine, if half of my function ceases to be?

{Oh, it's the pretty woman again! Which is ironic, considering that it's Diva that's pale this time.}

Um, to be honest, I don't think anything is being done about it really. We just wait for the Twins to change things back to normal, usually.

There's nothing else to be done, unfortunately. We just hope that it'll be over soon, and things will go back to how they were before.
