[Lucy has decided to take a break from Diva's party and is hanging out on the Plane in this dress that Diva gave her. she's got a glass of wine in hand and a somewhat longing expression on her face as she looks at the stars surrounding her, humming a waltz quietly under her breath]

{Dietrich is taking a break from his paperwork! So he will come to say hello, Lucy} Ah, that dress looks very lovely on you, Mrs. Saxon.

You attended that party that...ah, the vampire, as I understand, was throwing?

[smiles, brushing down her skirts] Why thank you. I quite like it myself.

And yes, I did. I've only just taken a break from it.

It looks like something that nobility would wear to the very upscale parties in my world, actually. Quite a luxury.

And she is civil? I've only heard of her, really, never met her myself.

Mmmm, it does, doesn't it? But it's the least I deserve.

Oh, she's quite lovely! Such a wonderful hostess and such good company.

{Laughs gently} Oh, is it? Does that mean you're a noble, Mrs. Saxon?

Is that so? I wouldn't have expected it from one like her. But if that's true, then I suppose I can offer no complaint!

Former First Lady of Britain, so yes, I suppose I am.

That's good, because I'd hate to have someone complain about such a good friend.

Ah, is that so? Then it's quite the honor even more. My parents were from a noble house, but it fell with their deaths, so I don't retain it, obviously. Though, growing up without it, I'm not even sure if I'd want it.

I do apologize if that sounded rude. I just have an admitted, ah, dislike for vampires. I do not expect much of them, even if it would be better for me to, I'm afraid.

You never think about the power you'd have had with such a position?

[waves him off] No need. I'm perfectly capable of handling a small insult here or there. I am a politician, after all. I suppose I can't fault you, though. Everyone has their pet peeves, don't they?

{Gently} I've have considerable power without it, so there's no need. I've certainly surpassed my father in probably half the time it took him to gain his fame.

Politician or not, it's not really...um...acceptable for a gentleman to speak about a lady that way. But thank you for understanding, at least.

Is that so? [she's quite interested in this, Dietrich]

No, it isn't. [smiles] But it seems you realise that, so there's no sense in wasting energy on it, is it?

Ah, well, my parents died when I was very young, so I was an orphan traveling between churches for a while. But when I was seven I met the two people that became like my second, and I guess third, fathers. So I joined the paramilitaristic organization that they headed and rose through the ranks quickly because...Well, it sounds very arrogant to say it, but my intelligence. I created many things for them that were quite useful.

I'm not really one for fighting, so I mostly stay at headquarters and do research or look over the members of the Orden.

I see. [smiles] That's quite the accomplishment, then. It seems to me you're wasting your talent sitting in some stuffy headquarters, though. You should be out among the people, making a difference.

Ah, I do, on occasion. In fact, I am right now. I'm accompanying one of the lower ranked members to the Methuselah empire so that he can speak with them about a misunderstanding that seems to have taken place recently. But...to be honest, I'm not much of a people-person. I prefer working with machines and books, in some ways.

Being among people ... I can't think of much else I prefer. It's been such a long time since I had that spotlight, however. What can machines possibly give you?

I suppose I prefer the comfort of logic. If something doesn't work or do what it wants you to, it's an easy thing to fix on a machine. With people...ah, not as much.

[oh, she knows] I can see your point, yes.

So I like people well enough, of course, but if I had the choice, I would pick machines. Ah, besides, I get shy sometimes when it comes to new people.

How quaint. [smiles] I'm pleased to see you aren't shy around me, then.

{Rubbing his head slightly with a gentle laugh} I guess not. I figured it wouldn't do to be shy here. But...I suppose it's not often I approach people myself either way.

Well! It's a pleasure that you've done so with me, then.

Ah, well, the pleasure is all mine, really. I just hope that I'm not too boring to speak with. {Which he laughs gently for}

Oh, not at all! It's quite fun, really.
