12- Nevere quite another like it

[Jack appears on the Plane, this time with all of Torchwood's shooting range. He's wearing the standard goggles and muflers, and besides him is a small table. On it are several different types of guns, including a Contemporary Polish WIST-94, a Taurus PT145 .45 ACP pistol, and an Enfield Mk II Revolver. All the guns have obviously been customized and  bear either the Torchwood symbol like the mufflers, or have 'TORCHWOOD' printed on the side.

He shoots each one in turn, almost always hitting the center of the target, arm steady and position very nearly perfect. With each shot fired, however, he looks increasingly annoyed, slamming the last gun down on the table angrily as he mutters darkly under his breath]

[He grips the metal table tightly, knuckles turning white from the pressure] After all he's done the Master deserves nothing less than a bullet between the eyes.

[after a moment, lightly rests a gloved hand on Jack's]

[Flinches slightly, but doesn't pull away. quietly]

I'll never be the one to do it, and he knows it. All because of my Doctor.

Your Doctor is lucky to have you.

[slowly shakes his head]

Quite honestly, I'd do it myself if he wouldn't merely return.

Yeah; the freak that will never stop waiting. Lucky him.

[turns, looking at him] I'm not wrong to hate him for hurting my team, hurting him.

There is nothing wrong with being a freak, nor in being loyal.

[pause] No, but it won't do you any good.

I'm surprised you of all people would say that about my immortality.

Better than just running with my tail between my legs.

[a slight shrug] I won't deny it feels wrong, Jack, but that's hardly your fault, and there's certainly a bright side.

And walking away with your head held high?

Let's hope that I still see the bright side a thousand years from now.

That tends to be hard to do when half your face has been melted off by molten metal.

[gently squeezes his hand] He doesn't need to matter to you, Jack.

In a place you can leave with a thought. Quite unable to reach the life you lead. [pause] Unless your realities begin to merge - that will happen, if one grows too attached to another. Loathing does count.

[a slight nod] It's a powerful emotion.

[And for a moment, Jack looks worried, almost...scared? He hides it well, though]So if we spent enough time together, regardless of what happened...?

That can't happen! He can't have access to the Hub or anywhere else in the city.
