12- Nevere quite another like it

[Jack appears on the Plane, this time with all of Torchwood's shooting range. He's wearing the standard goggles and muflers, and besides him is a small table. On it are several different types of guns, including a Contemporary Polish WIST-94, a Taurus PT145 .45 ACP pistol, and an Enfield Mk II Revolver. All the guns have obviously been customized and  bear either the Torchwood symbol like the mufflers, or have 'TORCHWOOD' printed on the side.

He shoots each one in turn, almost always hitting the center of the target, arm steady and position very nearly perfect. With each shot fired, however, he looks increasingly annoyed, slamming the last gun down on the table angrily as he mutters darkly under his breath]

[dflkdsnl Doesn't catch them and they slide across the counter, but he picks them up and fits them on, giving a slight nod to Jack if he's paying attention. He looks back to the guns and tries picking up a small handgun, reading the emblem on the side before really giving the thing a very careful once over.]

[He finishes emptying the clip into one of the targets and simply drops the gun back on the table, watching Ryotarou inspect the hand]gun

[Ryotarou notices Jack watching him, then ducks his head a little before looking back up.] Do you think.. I could try this?

[Jack looks at him for a moment longer, then nods, handing him pair of the goggles] Ever shoot a gun before?

[He sets the gun down for a moment so he can put the goggles on, then shakes his head.] Not a gun...

[Jack nods, releasing the safety and handing him one of the simpler handguns] Hold with one hand, not two. Stand straight, sideways to the target, aligning your arm with your body. [He goes through each of the steps as he describes them]

[Ryotarou takes the gun and nods just slightly, following Jack's examples carefully. This is a lot different from firing the ZeroGasher Bowgun, he's coming to realize.]

[He moves forward, adjusting Ryotarou's position slightly before reaching up and holding his arm steady and aligning it with his body just so] Look down your shoulder, along your arm, straight down to the sights. [Reaches up, cocking the gun]

Right... [Ryotarou lets Jack fix his stance, then glances briefly over to Jack before back down to the alignment of his arm.] Then... fire?

[nods] Keep your arm steady and squeeze gently, holding firmly but not gripping.

[Ryotarou hesitates for a moment, then shifts his grip on the gun and attempts to do as instructed. The gun goes off and hits darn near close to the bull's eye. However, Ryotarou's reaction to the recoil is to bring his hand up near his head and flinch a little - thankfully, he's taken his finger off the trigger at that point.]

... Did I do it?

[Despite himself, Jack let's out a soft laugh under his breath, taking the gun from Ryotarou's hand and using it to gesture at the target] Pretty good for your first time.

[Ryotarou blinks and looks over to the target, then smiles.]

Really? Ah.. it isn't really my first time shooting at something, but...

First time shooting something with a recoil?

[He nods.] Right.

Sure. [... Except Jack took the gun. Baww.]

[Jack cocks the gun then hand it back to him, taking one for himself and going back to shooting position, this time placing his other hand under his wrist, as if it were holding his arm there] Try it like this now.

[Ryotarou watches, then shifts his position to mirror Jack's.] Like this...?

Just like that, helps keep your arm steady. Now focus on the targets, and try not to flinch this time.

Right. [Nods determinedly, and looks down his arm to the target. He takes a breath, then fires. It hits even closer to the mark this time, and Ryotarou manages not to pull back like before.]

[smiles] See? A little more practice, and you might even be able to hit moving targets.

[Glances over to the target to see how he did and smiles a bit... then looks back over to Jack.] Moving targets?
