12- Nevere quite another like it

[Jack appears on the Plane, this time with all of Torchwood's shooting range. He's wearing the standard goggles and muflers, and besides him is a small table. On it are several different types of guns, including a Contemporary Polish WIST-94, a Taurus PT145 .45 ACP pistol, and an Enfield Mk II Revolver. All the guns have obviously been customized and  bear either the Torchwood symbol like the mufflers, or have 'TORCHWOOD' printed on the side.

He shoots each one in turn, almost always hitting the center of the target, arm steady and position very nearly perfect. With each shot fired, however, he looks increasingly annoyed, slamming the last gun down on the table angrily as he mutters darkly under his breath]

[Rather than answering, he makes a 'Go away' noise in the back of his throat. He knows better than to expect this will happen, though, and picks up an extra pair of mufflers, handing them to Ianto before loading another gun, barely giving him time to pull them on before turning towads the targets and firing shot after shot]

[Ianto puts them on, standing behind Jack and waiting for him to run out of bullets.]

[Jack does eventually run out of bullets, but each shot just seems to make him angrier and angrier]

[Despite this, Ianto still steps forwards and places a hesitant hand on his shoulder.]

[Jack tenses, but he doesn't push Ianto away. Instead his hands grip the edge of the table, his whole bod seeming to shake as his knuckles turn white from the pressure]

[Ianto just wraps his arms around him from behind, resting his head on his shoulder.]

[His hold on the table eases slightly as he leans back against Ianto. He still doesn't say anything, however]

[He doesn't speak for a long time, and when he does he's slightly tentative.] ...do you want to tell me?

[It takes a long time for Jack to speak up, and when he finally does his tone is bitter] It was destroyed.

How bad was the damage? We might be able to find someone who could repair it.

It's a heap of molten metal now. [And as he speaks his grip tightens again, anger seeping into his voice]

...oh. [His arms loosen, and he sounds a bit more uncertain now.]

[Jack doesn't speak up again or offer an explanation, just stays like that, torn between wanting to push Ianto away and holding on to him]

[He tightens his grip again after a moment, hoping Jack won't decide to push him away,] What happened?

[Jack still doesn't speak up. He let's go of the table, only to grab another gun and, with Ianto still holding him, starts firing at the targets once again, each shot no more than a few inches from the center]

[Ianto takes the gun off him, placing it back on the table before taking a step back.] This isn't helping.

[He shoots him a glare, then turn back towards the targets] It's not supposed to.

I need a new gun.

Then get a new Webley. They're not impossible to get hold of.

[He tenses completely for a moment, slowly turning to finally face Ianto] Don't you think I know that? The last thing I want is new Webley.

Don't be an idiot, Ianto. How it got destroyed has nothing to do with the fact that I don't want a new one.
